Bald,
Got all my parts, lets hope I'm still as good as used to get paid to be...... :rock
By the way a word of warning about shipping boxes and styrafoam peanuts. This is very important.
If you have cats, make sure after you get the parts out from the shipping box to reseal it before you leave the room. When I went back into the living toom to move the peanut filled boxes to my recycling area, 2 of my cats exploded up out of the first "closed" box I touched blowing all of the peanuts out into the living room everywhere.
The O'Lady will be home in 30 minutes and it will take me 30 seconds to change my underware...... :furious

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl A most worthy warning. Surgeon general where are you when you're truly needed.
Good luck on the build Bustr. Refresh my memory here. Is it an e8500 machine?

LMAO.
Yea one warning about New Egg
They LOVE their Styrofoam peanuts.
Probably why they went into business.
Some one ordered 4 tons of Styrofoam peanuts by mistake.
"WTF! How am I going to get rid of all these Styrofoam peanuts???"
"I know. I'll start selling computer parts. I'll ship them in boxes 16 times bigger then they need to be shipped in. And I'll fill the rest in with them"
Brilliant!

That's hilarious! :lol

Shhhheeeesh,
Routing the power and SATA cables to insure all of the fans flow well is much harder now than in the past.
Inside of my case looks like an HP Proliant DL580 with power cables, SATA cables and IDE legacy flat cable routed to keep maximum air flow going. After I installed everything I had to go back and begin the odius art of cable routing and tieing.
That took some time due to the artistic nature of the process is never the same across brands of cases. Also my mother board P5Q Pro has the IDE connector just 1/4 inch past the end of the PCI Ezpress 2 connector for my Nvidia GeForce 9800GT video card. I had to get creative with the IDE flat cable to allow air flow from the fan in front of the Hard Drives.
Thank God for velcro and all the years I spent supporting Compaq and HP servers. Still my Audegy2 ZS has that non standard white connector. My front panel headset and microphone jacks are Hi Definition industry standard. So my investment in 3 foot rca mini extender cables has payed off.
Can anyone tell me if using the PS2 sockets for mouse and keyboard removes conflicts on the USB bus due to the OS seeing the HOTAS and rudder peddles as additional keyboards and mouse?
Maybe this is the answer to some players joystick and rudder peddle spiking.

Don't know the answer to your question but your post brings up a couple of points;
I'm using PS2 sockets for both mouse and keyboard but I only use a twisty stick.
You can get a round IDE cable if you want. My motherboard came with one.
Your Nvidia video card is going to want to run at ~80C. Download Riva Tuner and set the fan speed for a constant 65% and it will run ~50C instead. Don't install the Nvidia performance tools package if that's an option (not sure if it is on non-nvidia motherboards).
As to the PSU wiring, I've got a PC Power & Cooling 750W PSU and it's got masive amounts of cabling. I bundled and tie wrapped the excess and shoved it into one of the upper 5.x" drive bays (front intake fan is at the bottom of the case in front of my HD's).

Yea. I have that PSU also
Thats exatly what I did.
First I untangled the mess it shipped as. that PSU has more wires then the space shuttle LOL
Then I only ran the wires I needed in the case. I got creative in my routing by snaking them around the unused drive bay brackets
And tucked the rest away in my uppermost drive bay
End result is a pretty open case.
And really easy to work on,and in.
I must say I really like this case Rosewill R5605-BK

I removed the parts box though

I had a different PS, it's an 850 something, can't remember who makes it right now, too many Buds, but cables are tucked everywhere. I think there are 20+ cables I'm not using. If modular was a legitimate option, I'd have done it. I'll have to post pics of my case. Between the Big A@@ CPU cooler and the cables, I have like no air flow.

So its finished.
It was a long and interesting process. The thing screams and XP sees about 3.4G of the RAM. The GeForce 9800GT is a monster, my desk top is running at 1024x768@120H. Offline testing in the game at 512 textures with object and ground vis sliders to the max gives me in the low 80's on the ground and up to 120 flying around and shooting with VSync forced on.
If you don't install XP or any of your other applications and hardware but every few years....well lets just say it took a day longer than I expected to get here. I thought my X52 and TrackIR3 had reached their mean time failure on the same day. Tooo easy to get mad and run around in circles.
I forgot I like to use dot tracking with my TrackIR. Not vector. So by default the software sees my vector license and opens my profile in vector mode. So my TrackIR is having intermittent malfunctions and ablsolutly will not get detected in Aces High. Just before I give up and order a new one....Im in the current profile deep enough to find the tracking format selction. OOOPPSIES....not set to dot tracking.
The only X52 drivers I could get to load under XP Pro sp3 OEM were the SD6. So the programing SD6 software naturaly won't import a Saitek SST programing interface (.dat) format file and convert it....noooo.... it only creates a (.prO) format. And I had to install .NET Framework 2.0 to get the Vista style programing gui to work......suddenly no drivers or programing software for the X52 will install in this version of XP......hours of wasted time. Then I had to sit down and map all of my keys to the new program interface.....weeeeeeeee.....

Run the 1024 textures.
I've got an 8800 GTS 512 running 1600x1050 res, all sliders to max, AA set at 8, Anistropic filtering at 4 (pretty high settings across the board in my video card set-up) and never fall below 60 fps (v-sync forced on).

Just went offline and installed 1024 HiRes. The system dosent know the difference between it and 512 for frame rates. But the fish eye at the edges of my 20 CRT ViewSonic G220f is telling me I need to get an LCD 25inch 2ms.
So now my gunnery timing is off. I'm pulling the trigger too soon. I'm still brain wired to the slower timing on my old system. Few days of offline diveing through the cricling AI cons will retune my timing.
I noticed online tonight that my visual clarity allowed me to judge my cons better so I could slip their fire as they passed. None of the looking like I had separation from their high attack on my turn, their nose past me then watching them 10 yards leaving my 6, and the tail falls off. All evasions were clean and I could watch their tracer stream from inception to missing my rear, to them exiting from my 6.
I fought a yak9u, spit9 and 47N at 20k in a spit8. Was able to make clean evasions on them, but I watched my rounds miss on overy snapshot I took. Pulling that trigger late....... :cry My varyence line never bliped. Just a solid white line riding under the center red line. Guess I get to go back to gunnery school for awhile. :t

Sounds like you got it fine tuned Bustr, wtg. It took me some time to get use to the 24 inch as well.
