Am I reading AHT correctly? It seems that the -1C only had the 1 central hardpoint for 1 bomb, the twin pylons started with the -1D. I don't thing the -1C had rocket rails, either. Anyone have other info?

This is a tough question that I've wavered on. D&S cites the current configuration that we use but I was going to go against that. Based on some other descriptions, I had reason to doubt that the twin pylons and the rocket stubs were carried and this seemed to be born out in the few photos that I could fiind that depicted this. I finally decided to go with the D&S configuration because of testimony of the standard loadouts being used by F4U-1Cs in Osprey's F4U Corsair Aces. Even then there is a discrepency because that cites the use of 8 rockets like on the 1D, instead of the 4 cites in D&S. If you find some good info on this subject, I'd appreciate hearing about it because it is a bit nebulous.

AHT describes the -1C as a -1'A' with 4x20mm cannons. It had the -1'A's leading edge fuel tanks, giving a total internal fuel capacity of 361 gallons v 237 for the -1D. It also lists the max external fuel for the -1C as 175 gal, v 300 for the -1D, which also points to 1 hardpoint.
I also have another book which is not nearly as thorough as AHT which describes the -1D as the 1st to have the twin pylons.
I am thinking that modeling the -1C as a cannon armed -1D was incorrect, it should be a cannon armed -1'A'. This is not a big deal, but it would be nice to have the historical accurracy. It would also be nice to have -1'A's modeled, a lot more of them were produced than the -1C's.

Having to carry your full fuel load internal instead of external is a big deal in this game..Doesnt matter what you load on if you can drop it in a second..

There are a lot of sources that cite the 1C as a development of the 1A, and then there are other sources that say that is incorrect and the 1C was a simultaneous development based on the 1D. I think the latter is more correct based on serial numbers.
