HTC,
Is there any way that you can slow down the truck convoys. A realtime truck convoy is not going to move that quickly. The barges and trains are just fine.
Thanks...

Sorry to detract from the original post, but the convoy also needs engine sound, road noise and dust.

It also needs to not run over and flip your plane/tank.

Same hate when that happened be on the road and bam im 2 miles away going wtf.

Running over and flipping your tank is OK if you are parked on the road or bridge. Having the trucks run across the runway and flatten your plane... not so OK. And having the convoy run in a tight circle at about 100 mph detracts a tad from immersion.
There was a brief time in AH, perhaps on a particular map, where the trucks actually moved at resonable speeds. Of course, if you slow down the convoy, you slow rebuilding of fields since they have a constant distance to travel*, so you would have to increase the number of convoys.
*they start at a factory in the hinterlands.

This isn't a problem with the convoys, it's a problem with the terrain builder.
The terrains are being built with 10 mile roads instead of 8 mile roads, that's what's causing it. At 8 miles, the trucks would travel around 40-45 mph. At 10 miles, they travel at 60 mph. If the road is stretched to show a longer road, or extraneous waypoints are included, which extends the overall length as well as causing backtracking convoys, the trucks pick up speed.
The solution is to keep the roads at 7 to 8 miles long and make sure there are no hidden extra road segments/waypoints.

This is a sound hypothesis :aok Now, let's fix the problem :)

And you do that by building your own terrain. :D

another quick q regarding the truck convoys...can one of the trucks suddenly leave the convoy and head off cross country by itself? cos i swear i saw one do this on one of the maps with a central island a while ago....it seemed a bit odd to suddenly head in a straight line across the fields. I tried to catch it but my hurri hit a tree, ill c if ive a vid of it....
