I'm not sure if other Joysticks have this capacity but on my X45 I have 2 knobs on the throttle that can be configured numerous ways. The one thing that struck me is that they can be setup as additional Axi. I thought "Alright, Trim Wheels", but unless I'm missing something you cant set an Axis to trim functions in AH. I figured turning a Dial to set trim might be better than tapping a set of Keys or buttons to set trim and could be more accurate.
Then again I may be missing something :D

you can always use stick sets to set your trim to your hat switch on set 2 .That way you do really have hundreds(ok loads :)) of configurations.
why not set up set 1 for combat and set 2 for landing etc? you can use triggers and buttons to control flaps/gear etc
its also pretty cool to have a seprate set up for vehicles or bomber/fighters.
dunno if this helps with your trim wheels but at least it gives you quite a few options.
p.s. you have to set a key for changing between sets too.

you can and I do have my rotors setup for trim
the rudder is aileron trim, rotor next to thumb is elevator and the one next to left fore finger is rudder trim.
the secret is to have them banded into three sections witht the middle being very small & empty band - no programming.
have to remeber to keep them centered and sometimes have to bring rotor back through center to "wake up" but works well for me.
send you the profile if you want, just pm ur email addy

I'll send you my e-mail Eagler for the Profile to see what you have. It sounds like something I've tried before. It would be alot more interesting if the Rotory Axis could be used to adjust trim much like a joystick axis can control pitch or roll.

In Il-2 only one rotary on my X36 works- and I can use it for elevator trim (which I do) and it works great.
In AH, though, I can't set them to trim which sucks and I can't do it in the profile either. Instead, I set them to manage my RPMs, but it would be nice to be able to set them to trim in a different mode.

Hi
I have X36 usb
Mode 1 Fighter mode
I use "mouse hat" for the manual Elv. & Ail. trims. With shift I get 3 different Auto Trim modes on.
Manual rudder trim is in Rudder Rocker because I use external rudder. Wheels contain Map and view zooms.
Mode 2 Landing mode
Hat 3 contain L, R and All breaks
Mode 3 Buff mode
set up for gunnery plases
Still under tuning.
