Title: Glen Duncan's 353rd FG P-47 Razorback
Post by: fyvsix on October 16, 2008, 06:39:00 PM
Here are some pics of Dove of Peace VI. With square checkers on the nose. Any takers for skinning?

The Swastika isn't allowed as kill markings on American aircraft, is it?

You guys would just substitute it with the balkenkreuz?

Why is it limited anyway? I'd suggest removing one of the two white nose 56th FG skin. I NEED a 353rd skin!

Remove some of those 305thFG ( not correct FG ) skins, they've been up there for a while.

I don't see why there's a limit on them...to prevent lag or something?

I think the answer was system requirements.

Each skin takes a certain amount of memory....
For instance, let's say 200kB (although I think they may be closer to 300kB).

15 skins max = 3MB per plane type of skins, x >75 Planes/Models = > 225MB of memory required, just for the skins... that's not including models, terrain, terrain textures, ship textures, special effects, the simulation information, network, etc, etc etc.

In a game that's strived to keep system requirements fairly low, that's a decent chunk of resources to give up right away.

They are different sizes for each of them some are 200kb others up to 650kb. Right know I have 342mb of just skin RAS files.

That's an idea.....

The ability to manually increase the size of the skin cache on your own computer.

Make like 4 check boxes.

1. No skins
2. 15 skins
3. 30 skins
4. Unlimited skins
