I just purchased a new laptop (Gateway), configured for gaming. It has the Nvidia 9800 video chip. I am warping a little in the game. I've tried lower video resolution, lower object detail, limiting frame rate to 45, checking for current video drivers, ...all have been no help. I am running on ethernet cable at 8 mps. I had the cable company come out today to check the cable and confirm the ping rates. Data upload / download transfer rates checked out okay. They did find an intermittent ground in the cable and made the repair. I am still warping in the game.
I would appreciate any input towards solving this problem.

Download this tool and ping one of the AH servers. 206.16.60.39
Post/paste a picture of the results of the ping plot. The problem with your warping may be a 'hop' along the way to the AH servers.

skuzzy,
To bring geek closure to this thread. How was power management impacting his system on a Laptop?

The new line of CPU's from Intel and AMD, as well as the new video chips from ATI/AMD and NVidia have th eability to shut off parts of the circuits when they are not being used. This saves power, but it also promotes unsmooth 3D graphics game play.
