Title: Punt the Sun
Post by: glacey on April 11, 2000, 12:19:00 PM
Can't say how important I feel SUN glare is. it's been the fighter pilots crutch sice WW1, yet both AH and WB refuse to give it the power it's due.

An enema in the sun should be invisible.

This is the largest flaw this game has! Finaly someone posts about it . Ever read any thing about ww1 or 2 where a pilot if he could would not use it ? This game has a sun but it not even as good as wb one. The glare should be overwhelming. I imagine all you would have to do is make us disapear in the one now. Why has this not been done ? Forget planes, vehicles or bugs this a fundamental flaw in this game! The sun in this game should be able to be used to mask a attack .It also should be able to be used as a defensive weapon. For a quick fix make us disapear into in and blink close to the corona. One more think wb had the sun wrong so did aw3 so does ah. The sun side attack should be a huge advantage. The size of all three was to small. The sun should be much larger. It should have a corona where a sharp eyed pilot can see a slight image. The sun even with sunglasses is overwhelming to look into some how this should be modeled.

couple weeks back I was building time in complex aircraft for my comercial  and was at an airport where the atc is vindictive... had me landing on runway 9 at 7 in the morning  with blinding sunlight and me with no sunglasses  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

basically i think if the suns anywhere within 45 degrees of the center of your field of view it should remove the icons on your screen

Yes clouds too.  My old instructor Ginger Lacey always said clouds were his best friend though, oddly enough, after the war they started to give him the toejams.  He reckoned a lot of them had a solid centre!

I heard HT muttering on line that clouds were causing 'overheads' which is a pity.

apparently clouds cause 'overheads' in band width available or something.

The best sun effect I saw was in Jane's WW2 Fighters, more than a year ago.

Can we have it, pls ?
