Title: keyboards
Post by: morfiend on October 21, 2008, 05:57:13 PM
I'm looking into a new keyboard,I've found a couple I like 1 is made by Adesso and the other by Solidtek. I'm not familiar with either of these companies or their products. Feedback would be nice.

Looking at their mini boards, with and without mousepad.....thoughts on this??

Gee... I just use a standard Microsoft keyboard/optical mouse combo.  I think it was about $11.

The G15 keyboard is the way to go in Aces High. In addition to the things set up on my HOTAS, I have the following as macro commands on my G15;

1. Shift 1, E (kill engine 1)

2. Shift 2, E (kill 2nd engine)

3. shift E  (restart all engines)

4. Rudder trim left

5. rudder trim right

6. Aileron trim left

7. Aileron trim right

8. Elevator positive trim

9. Elevator negative trim

10. Full vis range

11. Medium vis range

12. short vis range

13. ground vis range

14. shift and \ to text on the vox channel by hitting a single key.

15. end flight

And a few others I don't use routinely.

The G15 is THEY way to go, now if only HTC would code in functions for the display.

I use old keyboards I get curbside on cleanup week. Haven't bought a keyboard in 12 years.

Why mini? Making desk space amongst the controllers?

Like this one? Why 89 keys instead of 106 Morfiend?

I should probably start using the macros again.  I've never done it for AH yet.

morfiend I am using an Adesso ACK-540UB, it has the mouse pad. So far it has been a good little key board. It's only 11.5"x 8.625" It does take a little getting use to because of its' size, but it works good and the mouse pad comes in handy.

I don't know if they still make it, but the Chicony KB-7903 is my favorite. It's nothing fancy, and I threw away the detachable wrist support ages ago. When I went to buy another, Frys was out and I hauled home a Microsoft Multimedia Crapboard.

I know nothing about this company, but found it here for less then their shipping charges.

Why mini? Making desk space amongst the controllers?

yup - fits between stick and hotas for easy access and the spacings just right :aok then it stows under my monitor when i'm using my laptop.

for fps i used to use tatty old kbs from work as I'd trash them every couple of months.

 Thx for the input guys.
 Ghosth,mini cuz I'm building a flying chair/simpit. The link was for 1 I'm considering.

I've found 1 thats 9"x4"fits in the palm of your hand :aok.
What i wanted to know was reliablily and use issues.

I have several boards now,Zboard for gaming,M$ wireless and a generic for second machine.

The idea was to find a small 1 that I can mount either behind my JS or throttle.I have mounts for hotas now on chair but the keyboard is kinda the weak link and I thought a mini would solve the problem.
I really only use KB to BS and such, but it's still needed!!!
