Im probably the biggest AC\DC nut in Missouri, but Ive got to say,
I still Rate "Back in Black" and "For Those About To Rock" the greatest
two records of the Brian Johnson-era. Next on my list would be,
"Flick of the Switch" followed by "Ball Breaker".
"Black Ice" is not a bad recording, (A bad AC\DC record does not exist,)
but it left me a little dry on the hard drive. "Rock & Roll Train" really begged
for more of a dazzling solo by Angus than what he put into the song. Other
than that, "R&R Train" has me doing the double-tap with my heels.
I really didnt care for "Anything Goes" at all. It sounded too much like
some kind of "Glamor Rock" reject, not like AC/DC at all. "Smash n Grab"
caught my attention with its driving riff and thats a fav. "Skys on Fire" has
a funky riff thats really enjoyable. Still out on the rest of it and havent
decided really. Maybe thats just it. Remember the very first time you
heard "Back in Black"? I didnt have to think about it. It grabbed ahold
of me by the shirt, botch slapped me a few times and said, "your a bloody-
fool mate if you dont like this!" Then they blast me in the face with "For
those about to rock" just to remind me.
Whats your list and what does "Black Ice" do for you?

I think Bon Scott had a lot more to do with their music than just singing--what's gone are the incredible blues-based riffs, replaced by loud, plodding, arena-type type guitar playing ya hear from damn near everybody. It's listenable, but it doesn't stand out at all, IMO

I agree with pretty much everything Wyld45 said. Rock N Roll Train would be my top fav on the album. It's a decent album, but I wasn't setting my aim high on this one anyways. It's impossible to reproduce the raw energy one felt from hearing Back and Black for the first time. Even through all the events the band have gone through, they still know how to rock.

Listening to it right now. Isn't this the first album of all new material since Back in Black? They sound remarkable for a bunch of geezers. Albeit rather unispired...

I agree with you Wyld45, Rock and Roll train is my favorite song on the album but its just not as good as their older songs such as back in black.

Black Ice got a solid 'Meh' on my patented music grading scale.

After further research, just as I first thought. Someone needs to take the cough syrup
away from Brendan O'brian! Come on O'brian!, you've got some "Gangland" Rap intruders on
the front lawn of the "House of Rock" with our AC\DC dobermans on a leash and on "Dimetapp"!
WAR MACHINE/ The beginning of this song had me anticipating that hard-knock into the
main part like "R&R aint noise pollution", still a little light in the "crunch". But good tune.
SPOILIN FOR A FIGHT/ Its "B-side", but I wouldnt hit the stop button.
WHEELS/ Another "B-side", blehh,...skip forward.
DECIBEL/ LoL,...Love the song for the most part but you have to remember, WORDS are
everything when it comes to music, including the title! A word that makes me think of
"Math-Class" just doesnt work well to create a song off of. The music was great though.
Beginning made me think of a little ZZ top.
STORMY MAY DAY/ Nice crunchy-blues rythum. The guitar "level" goes well with the song.
I would probably put it on my "Favorites" list
SHE LIKES ROCK & ROLL/ Ok, music-writing 101. Never have songs with similar titles on the
same record. How about, "Shes a Rocker" or "She likes to Rock". Also thats a no-no in the
main song body unless your doing a "story line" like Pink Floyd or Queensryche. Songs ok.
MONEY MADE/ Nice funky rythum that gets you tappin. Its just different enough where it
doesnt go out of bounds of AC/DC standards. I like it.
ROCK & ROLL DREAM/ (See above on music-writing 101) Sorry fellas,but this song starts off
just way too pretty! I wont lower my standards and I dont accept AC/DC ballads!
(Leave that to POISON and SLAUGHTER.).
ROCKING ALL THE WAY/ I think the "STORM" of the "Thunder Down Under" was over Texas
for awhile. I swore Brians low-growl and some of the music at the start sounded like something
from the "ZZ" boys there for a moment. Not a bad song though.
BLACK ICE/ The title song needed more "Dazzle" and "Pizzaz". (Music-writing 101;Record-title
song, even if not the "hit-song", should still carry the power and potential of the hit including,
radio, party-favorite, best of, concert encore,etc.)

Bon Scott was the soul of AC/DC.

Initially I wasn't very happy with the new tracks. But a few songs are starting to grow on me.
Some of it sounds a little country (outback?), tho.
I really wished Mutt Lange would have produced this new one, I think he brought out the best in them ( Highway to Hell, Back in Black and For Those About To Rock ).
If they make another one, hopefully it won't take another 8 years.

Bon Scott was the soul of AC/DC.
I would say that Malcolm is the heart, then. I have never, in all my years of playing the drums and other instruments, listening to music, and owning a DJ Business, have heard a more solid rhythm guitar player.
He is just ON it. I could use him as a metronome for practicing.
It seems like he hasn't lost a step, yet.
I will agree that the absence of Mutt is evident in the final mix, for sure. :frown:

They're not saying that AC/DC is punk. What they do is occasionally take a station, suspend the format, and play a certain artist twenty-four hours a day. In this instance, they decided to suspend the punk format station and play AC/DC...

Ah Ha, makes sense.
I work in the music industry (own a DJ business, and sometimes play drums in a wedding band) and, amazingly enough, I don't know very much about satellite radio.
I have over 100, 000 + song titles at my disposal, so if I want to hear something, I just drop it on my mp3 player and plug it into the Jeep stereo.
I thought they were classifying it as punk :lol

I dont like the songs they are advertising on TV, Radio, etc. from this album as much as I like Track 9.
Overall I like it, and even though it will never compare to Back in Black, it surely is better than most of the rest.
Their music just has that beat that will never die.
