Thanks in large part to the participants on this BBS, and on various autism support boards, my song "Don't Give Up On Me" is now at Number 7 on the Independent Music Network’s Top-30 Country Chart this week! If you haven’t heard the song, you can listen to it at www.myspace.com/richowen61 . Whild the song is specifically about life with autism, its message applies equally well to anyone who cares about someone with a disability. To stay on the chart, and to reach number one, the song needs both airplay and votes from fans. I’d like to ask once again for your help to push this song to number 1. Here’s what you can do to help:
1) Go to the following website
http://www.independentmusicnetwork.com/vote.php?genre=C
2) Scroll down until you find the following entry and click on it…
“Rich Owen - Don't Give Up On Me (ROR)”
The screen will go blank except for a message that says “Thanks for voting”. NOTE: If you've already voted for the current week from the computer you're using, you won't see the list of songs; instead you'll get a message that says you've already voted this week. Voting goes from Tuesday through Monday, and you can vote once per week from any IP address. So vote early and vote often. :devil
3) Post back to this thread to say you voted (it’ll keep this thread up top and visible)
4) Repost this thread to other bulletin boards you frequent, and email to friends and family.
And thanks so much for all the wonderful emails and messages on MySpace I’ve received from people about the song. They mean more to me and Dan (my son) than any other compensation or recognition could. :salute
Sincerely,
Rich "Sabre" Owen

+1 - hey, do I get a mention in the Grammy speech?

Have you emailed Sara Palin's camp to try and get her to use the song in the campaign?
(not a political comment, just a "good idea" imho)
I would think you could get some awesome exposure.

Voted again :aok

Sure, you bet!
WMLute, worth a shot. Given that McCain/Palin are arguably the underdogs in this campaign, it could certainly apply in more ways than one;). I'll let you know how it turns out. :) (And please don't turn this into a political thread...it'll get locked :pray)
Thanks again.

I just thought that with Palin havin' a kid with Downs Syndrome, the song might be a good "fit".
(and it could possibly get you some exposure on the national level)

Again, thanks very much for the support. I'm glad you like the song, and appreciate all the encouragement. Hopefully I'll get to the con next year; I'll bring my guitar if I do :). Recap message follows, to remind people how and where to vote.
Hi, everyone! It’s that time of week again where I ask for your help to get “Don’t Give Up On Me” to number one this week on The Independent Music Network's Top-30 Country Chart (www.independentmusicnetwork.c om). With your help, it went from #24, to #19, to #10, and finally this last week to #7. It was less than 40 points behind the number 1 song last week, so with your help I know we can get it to number 1. This song is very special to me, as it is about families living with the challenges of autism. I wrote it for my son, who has a form of autism called Asperger’s Syndrome. However, its message applies equally to anyone with a disabled loved one.
To vote, all you do is click on this link,

Feel free to forward this message to anyone you know. The song can be heard at www.myspace.com/richowen61. Thanks so much, and have a great day!
Sincerely,
Rich Owen

Thanks, Trax, and everyone else. My previous personal best was #7 (this was the second song of mine to make to #7), so I'm really pleased. With only 49 points separating it from the #1 song, you can see how competative it gets at the top.
If you want to help push it further, here's the link to vote...
