This is frequent... i donno what is wrong. My computer has been auto minimizing AH lately and when i try to bring it back up it'll lose connection....I was enroute for the best Dogfight of my Night.... 84th vs JG11 @ 25k+....
Im just so dam aggravated because now i missed a great snapshot and i'm sure it won't be ran for months! :furious :furious Someone please tell me what might be causing AH's recent F ups... :pray

Vista?

windows XP
I hate the worst CPU in AH, but it never had auto minimized untill last week. It also randomly plays a Replay of a Advertisement From time to time " You have been selected to recieve a free XXX" and cuts out.
I donno what to do.
-
stop watching so much porn?

Sounds like you caught a bug. Best go find a good Bird to get them worms. :D
But in all seriousness, It does sound like s small bug/virus. Just run your Virus cleaners in Safe Mode. If you need something try AVG, Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware. Download them, install, update, start PC in safe mode, run scans. Should pick up whatever it is. If it persists it may a trickier Virus, worst case you got a Trojan, but that's unlikely, those buggers are annoying.
Hope this helps some.

You have adware on there, you need to run a cleaner to get it out. it will get worse if you don't

Alright. How can i remove Adware?

Hey MjTalon, if you want to try the "easy" way first before using all your AHII
time checking and cleaning viruses,(which you still can and should check later,)
I had a "Glitch-Bug" of some sort, I just did an earlier-date restore and didnt
have a problem afterwards. I also keep ALL my history, cookie and other
internet file systems clean. I almost always perform daily maintaince and
de-frag once every two weeks.
Sorry your having problems like that, hope you find the cure soon. :salute

Talon get with me on messenger and I will get you something to remedy that worm infestation :D

Alright. How can i remove Adware?
Look up AVG (something like AVG.com, but I'm not sure about it)
AVG is the best intardnet security program I've ever had. I had SpyBot for about 6 months, and I still couldn't get rid of the viruses, even after updates. After I got AVG, the viruses vanished. :O

Get with Skuzzy and turn off ActiveX all together for web browsing.

Vista?
:lol
Hilarious how that's always the first question anyone asks on this BBS for any computer related issue. Now wonder why that is...

That's because Spybot Search & Destroy is Anti-Spyware software, not Anti-Virus. ESET NOD32 beats the binary out of AVG.

Well that is probably due to the fact that "SpyBot" is for getting rid of "SpyWare" and not "Viruses". You need software that eliminates spyware, adware, and viruses. NOT all anti-virus programs eliminate all three, so the need to run an anti-spyware, anti-adware, and anti-virus program or programs.
All the Best...

it's called avg free 8.0------it works i have it on all our computers at home and all computers at work--about 12 puters in all--been using it for a year now.with no problems yet.

talon its a malware i just had to get rid of 1 called "privacy cleaner" kept popping up random .
and if you uninstall it it clones itself any where you click on the add it reintalls itself its a major.
scam go to "download.com" and get a malware cleaner. btw my wife had ad-aware superSPYWARE remover and avg free firewall. the malware disables or mask`s itself to current prog cleaners u have installed.
its a real bugger to get rid of if tried all the forums i could find on google.according to them its the latest trend
site having hidin links that auto install the malware by simply clicking while browsing the site.
so download a malware remover fresh and run it should find it make sure the one u choose is "free" with no limitations so you don't waist your time hope this helps TB

Once you get rid of the Malware.. use Firefox and Thunderbird..using Microsofts Internet Explorer is just asking for trouble.
Here's a link to Firefox http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/

Question. I installed AVG free 8.0 and it's scanning my CPU.
I've left it on overnight and it's still scanning. It's currently at 14 hours and has detected 21600+ threats... :o :o :o
How long does it take to fully scan?

u got major issue`s time depends on size of hd`s and info on them
-
18GB total HD but not quite sure on the information on it. I chose to scan the entire CPU though.
-
21,600 Threats? Wow most AVG should normally find is around 15 on a bad week. Luckily AVG should be able to fix it all, even if it has to finish upon restart.
As for how long? Depends on amount of data on HDD, and how fast you set it. My 320+160GB HDDs take about 2-3 hours due to having very little stuff saved (around 150GB used) and I use "Slow Scan". The 2-3 hour is a guess, in that I mean i start it between 1am and 3am and it is finished before 5:30am.
Another thing to do once the PC is clean is to set AVG to run sometime when you are not using the PC, and if wanted set it to turn the PC off after scan.
I have only had one threat while using Mozilla Firefox, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, AVG 8.0 and Windows Firewall (I know, the devil) in about a year.
So if done properly a PC can stay Virus clean very well.

DANG! How did your computer survive that?! :O

lol
Someone has been surfing the pron.
Not sure what SOB can do to help though. He might be able to recommend some sites that aren't infected with viruses I suppose.

It wouldn't be in suppository form would it? :lol
I agree with others, it's a virsu/worm/ad ware.. do what they said above.
-
Always delete the internet cache and temporary files before scanning. 90 percent or more hits come from there.
-
MajTalon I would save all important files on a dvd or backup hd. Then reinstall windows xp and start with a fresh install. Take all measures, like mention from others, to protect yourself for now on. Also post in the tech support section.

Wow... just wow. At this point I'd tell you to save what you can (if you even could save data without it being contaminated by a virus at this point) and nuke your hard drive and reinstall. But being as it got this bad... I don't think there's a point. Just put your computer in the trash can and walk away from the internets, if not for your own good then for the rest of us on it (/end sarcasm).
In all seriousness though, submit your scan results to Guiness, I don't think people could intentionaly infect a computer worse than what you have... and it would still work.
Good luck though. I hope this works out for you and in the end you've learned to be safer on the internet. If it don't kill you, it'll just make you stronger.
