Guys,
Silly comments aside, why do GV's produce a radar (aka dar) bar? It seems a blinking town with no dar bar should suffice to indicate a presence of a GV. Easy to distinguish. You would think radar would be dedicated to those objects above 200 ft in altitude only. I am curious what the logic is for this.
Thanks for explaining,
WT

I do not believe that GV's produce radar of any type.

GV's do not show a DarBar...Wish granted!!!

500ft

Nothing below 500' shows up either as darbar or dot dar.
-
If a GV falls off a 1000ft cliff and no ones around to see it, will it create a dar bar?
-
Guys,
I guess I received incorrect information. Been wondering about this for weeks. I heard it from multiple sources (channel 200 and range communications if I remember right). Yep, 200 net the best source of facts.
Thanks for clarifying. :aok

GVs make a base flash when they get within so many feet of the town/base.
and darbar only shows for planes above 500ft of ground level.

Only until it reaches 500'.

Skuzzy said 500ft at one time.
On one map I was high on a mountain in an Osty and the factory Puffy ack was shooting at me.

Since when has radar or radar bars had anything to do with puffy ack?

I bet it killed you less than a minute! :D

puffy ack shoots @ anything above 3k and in range. i have had puffy ack shoot @
my GV on hills.

Mindanao had such an airbase. Was located at >3k next to a cliff, and down there (at the shoreline of a lake) was a strat target. When the enemy now was in possesion of the zone base, you were under puffy ack fire the moment you spawned on the runway or rolled from hangar :D

And this makes you smile because....

Yes :noid

The next time the canyon map is up, lets all grab jeeps and drive off the cliff and see if we create a darbar :)

Lemmings! :)

Radar isn't the only detection available. Visual detection from the ground should show a dar. In WWII many of the contact reports were from ground observers. :noid

Which is represented in game...by making bases flash once you get inside alarm range, regardless of altitude or radar status.

And GVs set it off also.

There are places you can be at 10k and still be NOE

Yep, remember, its 500ft off the ground..not above sea level that creates dar. so I cant see a GV flying off a cliff getting 500 ft away from it to create a dar
