Title: Bad form or sour grapes?
Post by: Scca on October 31, 2008, 02:49:05 PM
Is it considered bad for to help someone take a base, then change sides and attack the same base you just helped take?

Happened to me once before and again last night..

Was the base take easy with little to no defense?  I'd say the guy did a favor by switching sides to provide a fight.

At6 the minimum it is bad taste, but worse is when someone joins your mission, dies during the run, then he ends up getting killed at the base you were on the way to take and he is in RED..

Depends on the situation. For example, I have many of times switch sides so I can take on the hoard thats trying to take a base.

Being part of the horde, then switching to fight the horde is bad for as far as I am concerned..  But in my case, it was a good well planned base take, but not a horde, maybe 6 people.  It was after taking the base and going into defense mode, I killed the "helper".

don't really see an issue.  You still have to defend the base anyway.  It's not like once you take a base no one is allowed to attack it or something.  What's the difference if he attacks it or someone else?  Also, it's not like anyone has to guess where a weak point might be in the line.  All you have to do is look at the map and look at the roster.  1 person isn't going to take a base, heck at times I'm amazed that 20 people struggle.  though to be fair, there are different motivations when alot of people are flying directly over the field.  I guess it's going to boil down to how serious you want to take the game.   Not even going into possible coincidences, in that maybe finding friends/squadies flying for other country, or just boredom.  I just can't seem to find a big deal about it.  I would also like to add, there is absolutely nothing wrong with changing countries to fight the horde steam rolling bases.

Some may say it is bad form, but I say fly for whomever as long as any information you may be privy to from one side or the other stays with you.

I draw the line as follows;

Get someone to up troops find out where they are on the map then switch and kill them, that's bad form.  Switching sides AFTER the base is captured, nothing wrong with that.  It's not like the freshly captured base get's a 10 minute grace period before anyone else on the side of the former owners can attack it.  There's no advantage for the person who switched, by the time he/she gets there in a tank or plane any knowledge they had is going to be so old that it's worthless now anyway.

Speaking of lame, I shot down Cellular in a cv battle.
Just a few minutes later (while chasing a con on the deck) I get a check6 from him.
I just popped up a little to check and he zooms by in a Spit 16 and kills the guy I was chasing.
It was kinda funny though.

One of the best kills in AH is when you switch countries without your squaddies knowing and then kill them.  Fratricide is good!

Myself,Steve and Tec were all fighting at at base.
Steve was on rooks and tec and i were on knit.

I hear steve on squad vox say.
"man the dweebs arent paying any attention"
I hear steve again laughing hysterically.
Then i seen Tec type out. "ummm"
Steve said "sorry dude, didnt know it was you"
Tec replied: I was busy thinking...

You are correct, but its still funny when you now they are on the the other side.

Once in a while my squad has gone to the AVA and split up, half on each side.  We still talk cross country, and actually try to kill each other.

It' pretty funny to see your squaddie in the kill text..

On topic
I guess since he didn't prevent the take after helping prep the base, then I see your point, it's cool.  I guess he was just looking for a fight, and knew one would be there.

I see the light, thanks for keeping me straight folks..
