But what is a Spitdweeb?

It's what folks who fly Spits get called by folks who don't like folks who fly Spits.

It's what folks who ONLY fly Spits get called by folks who don't like folks who ONLY fly Spits.

 :D

Looked like you needed a little help there.

It's not just Spits, just about anyone who shoots you down or fails to get shot down by you has got something wrong with them.

That's not true.  I get called a Spit Dweeb and I fly all the planes in the set regularily.  I just fly Spits a lot.

BTW, if you lose you never get called a Spit Dweeb.  Only if you win.

If you shoot someone down while in a Spitfire, you are a SpitDweeb
If you shoot someone down while in a P-51, you are a 51Dweeb
If you shoot someone down while in a La-7, you are a LgheyDweeb
If you shoot someone down while in a Niki, you are a CannonDweeb

etc etc etc

If you love the Spitfire, not because it can turn great, or climb well, but because of it's beauty and history, you are a SPITTYDWEEB!!  :D

I like to call spitfires something with a 1 letter spelling difference  :devil  Although I do love the history of the aircraft.  Matter of fact, thats one of the many reasons I play AH...to fly planes with HIISTORY to them.  The last generation of the true "dogfighters."

Thats kinda sad. Being a Brit i have a fondness for the Spit, also the Mossie and Lanc, i also like the P51D, so i guess i'm S.O.L. i am a dweeb x4 lol.

I wouldn;t worry about it.  Everyone in AH has been/is/will be called a dweeb more than once.  Just sit back, open a beverage, and enjoy the flight!  Don't worry about what everyone else says.

i've been called a cheater, and an alt monkey(by somone that had almost 5k on me), but not a dweeb yet.
i do however have an ankle humper in the arenas now  :rofl

And then there are Spit XIIs, but that's another story ...... :noid

I'd like to say that it's reserved for those afraid to step away from the training wheels of the Spit16, but that is not accurate.

yea,....kind of gets old after a bit, eh?

especially when ya tend to be at somewhere in the ballpark of 5 to 10k.....10k being when i'm buff hunting...or trying to match someone elses altitude.........

but for the spit thing..........don't swet what anyone else thinks. it's not their busines what you fly.

despite tha claims that spitfires take no skill, they DO. they simply require a DIFFERENT skillset than a 109, or a p51.
fly whatch want, and have fun.
and if ya get your very own ankle humper......pity him, as it simply means he;s got nothing better in his life.  :aok

Spitfires require skill just like anything does.

The main difference is the stability of the airframe.

I suppose it gives the feel of ease as it is 'easier to fly'.

Ultimately the winner will be the smarter, more knowledgeable driver.

I fly 109s.

The literal truth behind "dweeb" sometimes begins to get muddled by those new to the flight sim community. The fact is, we who play these flight sims are all dweebs. So sayeth the much venerated and wise Book of Dweeb. Let not the young of our world stray from the wisdom of the Book of Dweeb.

I was simply going to quote from the Book of Dweeb till I saw your post, then I thought what the hell  :D

"For all who play at Warbirds shalt always be Dweebish. Dweebs wert thou born. Dweebs thou art. Dweebs shalt thou be." And it was good.

Jingo nailed it.

If your here, if you fly the unfriendly skys of AH, your a dweeb, period. Accept it.

Putting any kind of a label in front of that dweeb is mostly people trying to deal with the fact that you just shot them down.

Everyone flys, everyone dies, get over it, get a new plane, and try again.

Never listen to anyone trying to tell you what to fly, or HOW to fly.
Its your dime, do it your way. (Although you will catch a lot of static if all you do is HO)

Its a fun little plane, and IMO under estimated by many,  but it also seems to draw the LA7s and Spit16s.  But when you kill one in it...mucho perkies! hehe

Verse One
"In the beginning, there was Air Warrior, and it was good, And many partook thereof, and became Dweebs, and were smiteth repeatedly from on high by the Gods, and were vulcheth by other Dweebs, and were feared by the C-lander Runstangs. But after a time, the Dweebs learned to take flight from the uncapped field, and to ignoreth the false books of wisdom which sayeth "Thou shouldst fly the P-38, thou newbies," for all who have tried knoweth that the Air Warrior Godsteed named Lightning is not the province of the mere Dweeb. So the Dweebs learned the mythic Spitfire, and went round and round, and thus was born Loop Warrior, andthere was much killing and rejoicing, for the Dweebs believed that now they were not Dweebish any longer, but were now Vets. But yet the voice of DoK was heard from on high...and it sayeth, "Nay, Dweebs art thou still." And thus was the Dweebfire born."

I have no problem with people choosing the Spitfire as their plane of choice....  Their 15 bucks....  Do what thou whilst.... :salute

However, in retrospect, what I do have a problem with is the guy who can't "get the job done" with any other ride, yet still thinks the
world of himself....

I'm a 38 driver by choice....  However, on that rare occasion when I decide to up a Spit (either a I, V, IX, VIII or XIV...NEVER a XVI), I find it rather simple and, to be honest, easy in most cases...Especially with a little alt...

Now, please, no one be offended by this as it's just my opinion that I'm sure many share with me..  I think the majority of you guys who fly the XVI exclusively really feel the need to be "good" or seen as "good"...  But, let's face it...  The Spixteen is a VERY forgiving aircraft and doesn't require much of anything to be good in....  How about trying to fly something that's actually challenging instead of the uber-trainer XVI...
Again, just my two schillings.... :D
