Title: new to AH and my first question
Post by: SirFrancis on November 03, 2008, 10:13:08 AM
Hi,

@1. sry for my bad english (there is no section for german-speaking-players here :D )

Now: I tried the 2 week trial and I am kind off addicted to this game. I played Navy Fie ld the last 10 month, but AH is far more fun!

I am switching to subcribtion asap. I flew some bomber sorties, hit some targets, shot down some fighter...but maybe I was just lucky.

One thing I can´t find is an printable airfield layout. I would like to know where the different (GV, fighter, bomber) hangers are. Yes, I used search function...but could find anything. Maybe one of you guys can help me?

Greetings from Germany!

Go here...

http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/

In the column on the left, near the bottom, is a link to printable field maps.  Also lots and lots of other good information to be found here.

Hi,

But there are a lot of German-speaking players, including one member of the AH Trainer Corps  ;)

Also in reference to maps.

Right click anywhere on the clip board map, (hit esc to bring it up) and in the scroll down menu that pops up there is a selection for clipboard maps. Click on it and you can select maps for the layout of the different Airfields, GV fields and Ports.

cheers, and welcome to your new addiction.

I sure am glad there are more and more English words being added to the World language. Helps me understand WT-heck is going on when I see or hear foreigner's talk.

Navy Field huh?  what's ur name/server there?  I've played the past 2 years (taking a break from *this* game).  :aok

I played on MO, as bwoopsy, but pretty much stopped when I returned to AH last Aug - still have my NF acct, tho'.  L2/Monty/Essex/GZ2.

In any case, welcome to AH.  Sure wish NF could have similar gfx as the AH task force.

@Shane,

i have a account on NFEU (Bismarck-server). KM lvl81 GZII.

I like playing CV. My FP are all lvl 78+ und my DB has lvl 90  :D

But since a couple of weeks I lost the fun. I am still a member of a clan and sometimes join harbour assaults. But, I am more in flight sims. Thats the reason I landed here.

Field maps ship with the game and are stored in the "maps" folder in the game's installation directory.

Many thx for your help!

I noticed when looking at the airfield maps, that there are buildings (hangers?) with no desciption. Does this mean, that these buildings can be neclected, meaning they are of no use?

Looking at a map of either size airfield, there is a hanger just off of the large concrete pad.  That building is where you select your plane or vehicle when you click "hanger" on the clipboard.  It is indestructable, and has no effect on gameplay.  There are one of these hangers at every airfield, vehicle field, and port.

Here is the direct link to the map documents on the trainers site http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/maps/maps.pdf  It may be marked in more detail than the default clipboard maps.

Also on large airfields there is a hanger on the east-west runway that is unmarked.  That one is a fighter hanger and needs killed to shut down the fights.

got another question:

today i was fighting with a T34. I had an unfriendly Wirbelwind in sight. He was movin towards me. So when I started to nail him, he kind of rushed foward and backward. I sought this has something to do with the internet connection. Am I correct? I also follow the phenomenon (?) when sitting behind a field gun and aiming at enemy planes. They suddenly change speed and altitude so fast I cant aim.

Yes. Either there is some problem with the internet connection, or something may use up resources on your opponents computer (like anti-vir software starting to update or scan files)

To check if it's your own connection that causes trouble (a good indicator is when several planes in view start to warp) rightclick on your clipboard map and select "Net Status". "Variance in Delay" should be a flat line.

BTW, that phenomenon is commonly called "warping" with the AH community, and you'll usually hear it with an expletive before or after (or both).
If you have multiple players in view, you can make a quick determination of who has the problem by seeing if everyone else warps at the same time. If just one player warps, then it is probably that player who is having issues. If everyone warps around you, then it is probably you with the issue. To be sure, you'll need to follow Snailman's suggestion to check the Net Status.

Oh, and Willkommen  :)

When you see that happen from an anti-air platform at the range of 2.0K, it is part of the game architecture.  The rate your computer gets updates on other players depends on how far away from you they are.  You get the most frequent updates on players within 2K.  When you are in an AA emplacement or vehicle, it's common to see a slight warp as the update rate changes.

I searched the forum, but didn`t find any answer.

I logged in the training arena to train my bombing skills. But at the bombing zone were no airfields for the "green" team. The same with the basic training zone. So, how can I use the bombing zone?

Change country to get to get on the appropriate "green" team.  ;)

You can change by klicking on "Oclub", then "Change Countries" or you can simply use a quick dot command for this: type

.country #

into the radio buffer when not airborne. #= country number, Bishops=1, Knights=2, Rooks=3.
You can change country any time without limit in the TA or offline.

....and changing countries in the training arena DOSE NOT affect which country you are in the other arenas.

By looking at his location I think he should cuss back in Bayerisch. And it's way more colorful to cuss in than in ordinary German too. I lived two years in Bavaria, I know what I'm talking about :D

Like this?  It is not a cuss word in Bayerisch but a greeting in Bayerisch.

Grieste du aude fisch-houd!!  Hello you old fish-skin... I know, it makes no cense.

That's old Bavarian  :aok
