Title: Game sounds
Post by: RipChord929 on November 03, 2008, 02:37:05 PM
Just reloaded the game

All the sounds are backwards..

Example; Bombs sound like they fall UP...

And planes that are far away, (5k) sound
like they are right on top of you...
But when they ARE on top of you, they
sound like they are 5k out...

Also, explosions are delayed about 3 seconds

Hard to play that way.. Feels Really goofy..

Anybody heard about this glitch???
A fix???

Should have left well enough alone, SHEEESH!!!

I would guess either a driver issue with the sound card or a misconfigured speaker arrangement.

So all you did was reinstall the game?  Nothing else was done to the computer?

Yep, NOTHING else done

The game has no control over where the sounds come out of your speakers.  The game just sends the 3D coordinates to the sound system (DirectSound) and then DirectSound figures out how to make the sound appear as it is coming from the right direction and volume.

There is not a setting in the game that would effect any of this.

Man this is driving me crazy..

This PC is less than a month old..

Drivers are up to date..

Works ok on other games..

Audio sounds backwards... nuts..

Downloaded the game 4 times,
its the same every time

The sounds are correct in direction
but inverse in distance... wierd???

I cannot imagine what could be causing this.  Have you maybe forced some wierd encoding scheme on in the sound system?  EAX or Dolby?  Installed any other sound related applications?

Push comes to shove, rename the "HTC" folder and then re-install the game.  I am skeptical that it would change anything.

Got a link for the fix?
Have a game sound issue I wouldnt mind resolving either reguarding the doppler effect

all approaching planes sound as they should until they are next to me and passing. then they sound like the engine is being super revved (sounding like a cox model airplane engine)

As a poor example
Instead of sounding like this

rrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrr

They sound like this

rrrrrrRRREEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee eeee

I get this bug also on my current setup w/ integrated sound. Mostly sound is ok but sometimes engine noise zooms to distance at warp speed.

Sounds mainly funny and doesn't really bother me.

Only time I get something similar to that is if I alt-tab out and come back in, when the game is opening up in that 1-2 second time frame the engine noise is at full blast.  Not sure if that is related.  But I use a SB X-FI Fataility.
