Title: RAM question
Post by: Masherbrum on November 03, 2008, 07:49:50 PM
I have a RAM question.   I have an ASUS P5K-E MB with 4GB (2x2GB) of Mushkin PC-8500 RAM (DDR2 1006Mhz).   In CPU-Z, it is listed as PC-6400 (800Mhz).   My MB supports 1066Mhz, but this somehow is NOT jiving.   I have gone into BIOS and changed to 1066Mhz freq, but this still comes up as the CPU-Z listing.

What version of CPU-Z are you using?  After you changed it to 1066 in the bios, does your computer show 1066mhz at the Post screen?

still shows 6400 and 800, but 1066Mhz in BIOS

Latest version 1.48.

I still think it's the version Karalya. The older versions of CPU-z showed my e8400 as being like a 6150.

Got it resolved.   I guess this is normal.   Under the Memory tab it will read 533Mhz (534 in my case), this means it is at 1066.   SPD will always read 6400 because of MB configurations, etc.

Thank you all.
