Just thinking out load here.
We have fleets, and some AI work has been done in CT, so...
In a large land-mass map we could, in theory, have an AI 'Army' controllable in a similar way to a fleet. The army would consist of, say, ten tanks, ten M3s (+ammo), ten AA vehicles (Wirbelwinds or whatever) - I'm sure someone can think of a better mix, but bear with me...
Armies can only spawn from a pre-designated field.
An army carries with it it's own spawn point 'inside' the army (at its centre).
Players can spawn a GV 'inside' the Army.
An army can only take a map room if players spawn M3s (+troops) from inside the army but...
...An army can automatically attack and (possibly) take down a town/field when it comes into contact with it (AI driven).
An army will engage an opposing army if they come in contact (AI driven).
Any element of an army will engage any enemy element in comes in contact with (AI driven).
An army will replenish a new vehicle only if vehicle supplies are dropped 'inside' the army.
An army can only cross rivers if there's a standing bridge (this links in with bridges as a tactical target).
An army can't climb/roll down hills that are too steep.
An army reaching an enemy HQ automatically takes out the radar and does a lot of damage.
I can't see it working on an island based map - but we have fleets for that.
I just think it might be cool to attack along a front and join in with a larger unit - and it would be fun trying to defend it, or stopping it too.

U NEED 2 STOP USING CAPS LOCK.
This seems like a nice idea, but I think it would be over doing it.

Would be cool, Armies could be destroyed by killing Fuel tanks in it or killing trains. Trains are marked on a map with a DAR around it with puffy ack stations on it for players. If an Army doesn't get an X amount of supplies after an X amount of time, it gets smaller till it's no more. You can also completely resupply it with a C-47 with field supplies....
You can only take it within an X amount away from a base (maybe mark it with a yellow or green circle) and can be hit by ground artillery... put in movable PAK 38s and stuff like that in there... would be cool. :salute

I would love to see this. The biggest GV battle I've been in had only 12 panzer tanks and 3 tigers on one (rook) side. Would be really cool.

:O
You must have never taken part in the old TT. Used to have 40-50 tanks out at a time.

What in gods name have you been smoking kid, cause what ever it is, its seriously damaging what is left of your brain.
To the OP. I think its a good idea, with one major problem. At the moment, the AI planes have trouble avoiding the ground! That's the main reason AFAIK why the AI has never been added to GV's. Simply because theres too many things for them to avoid, Trees, Hedges etc. Fleets don't have this problem, you don't find many hedges in the ocean. IF this gets fixed them I'm all for it, as I said sounds a good idea. It will suddenly link strats with GV's and bombers, and make bridges good choke points. A Tiger could again become the powerful defensive weapon that it once was. A dug in Tiger would have a fun time with an army like that!
