Title: So I'm watching BBC America for election coverage...
Post by: BoilerDown on November 04, 2008, 05:56:04 PM
... because I'd heard that most of the rest of the world knows how the US Government works better than the US Citizens ourselves do.  Well these guys keep making mistakes in how it works.  1/3rd of the congressional representatives being up for re-election being the most recent example that went uncorrected.  And these are people who presumably work with politics all the time.

I know this stuff 'cause of one semester in high school my senior year.  It was NOT a rigorous class at all, everyone was required to take it and everyone had a pretty easy time of it.  It was also 16 years ago for me.

The point?  The suggestion that our public education system if failing to the degree that foreigners know our system better than we do is plainly false.  Just watch BBC America for a few minutes tonight... its Direct TV channel 264.

There was a time in California that you had to pass a test on the Constitution to graduate from the eighth grade, now you don't. I wonder why.

The American people seem to be embracing mediocrity with alarming abandon.

I could give a rats butt what the rest of the world thinks about the USA and whether or not they think we are arrogant. If they think we are all so bad then why do they keep wanting to come over here???

I'll tell you why.  The constitution was not written in ebonics or Espanol.  Therefore, it is prejudice to test on an understanding of it.  Any illogical dreamer knows that!
