As a fisherman, I bet you welcome this weather to get some of the traffic off that crazy donut lake.  On the other hand, not as many people tying up boats and going topless.  :)

That's one nice thing about fishing timber. It's away from the crazy boaters. In the mid summer on a weekend I'm often leaving at noon anyway.

This season in the pic below is getting ready to start before long. We don't eat them. Just target the biguns for fun. That is from Lavon.

I'm doing the Take a Soldier Fishing thing on Grapevine this Saturday. Then at 9:00PM on Saturday it's off to Chile for two weeks again.

Congrats for finding big beautiful creatures of the sea and slaying them for no reason at all.

It's a lake and not the sea.

We take a photo of the big cats and release. Any cat in my boat over 10 lbs goes back in the water. I generally do not keep cats because I usually have plenty of crappie for the family in the freezer. Those big cats are the egg producers.

With regards to crappie. I release most of those as well during the year and just keep enough for a small supply. I rarely use minnows, mostly jigs, so seldom do I kill any. That big crappie in the photo was caught and eaten in good faith.

Let it be known that this fish was thrown into a cooler and suffocated slowly before it was cut into pieces w/ an electric fillet knife.  Then the twitching carcass was thrown into the lake for catfish to consume.  Meanwhile, the edible meat was taken with pride to the freezer in my house.  Later, it was thawed and either baked or grilled with spices to produce a tasty meal for a hungry soul.  Finally, it was shat out.  While I am in fact a bear, I will not tell you if it was released "in the woods".
