I heard this in the arena tonight and figured it was an interesting idea:
How about not displaying what country fields were belonging to when looking at map, but simply state them as "enemy" (red). That way it would be harder for two countries to "team up" on the last one as they don't know for sure (when looking at map) when they are fighting one enemy or the other.
Once in flight and in visual range I guess the country the plane belongs to can be displayed, maybe also the same for fields.
I haven't really thought this completely through, but interested in some feedback.

I wouldn't have any problem with the set-up that you describe above. But, first, I'd like to see the map changed entirely. It's difficult to read when it's small. It's a pain in the butt to have to keep zooming up just so that I can read it.
I'd prefer it if we could just hit a but (Esc) and a full-screen map appeared with detail, like the impression of mountains, better i.d. of air traffic, etc. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
