Although I recently signed onto a new contract with HiTech, this isn't my first time playing AH. A sim I love dearly, even if my flying would seem to say other wise. After a 3 year "vacation," from the game, I noticed one thing,... The sounds in the game are as borring as they were 3 years ago. This isn't ment to be a harsh statement, not at all. But simply, a Spitfire with its Merlin engine, should sound nothing like a P47 Thunderbolt, which has a twin row radial engine, :rock that should rumble across the sky, like a stampead of wild mustangs! A Lancaster shouldn't sound like a B17, and so on! Yes, I know there are sound pacs available for this. But if you aren't computer savy, "as I am certainly not," then the issue of switching sound pacs becomes simular to a botched attempt at constructing a space shuttle! "Where's the duct tape!!" As far as AH has come, a clear "Icon", of on-line gamming, it's time for the hum-drum sound pac to catch up with the rest of the games' up-grades. The dull monotone sound on a long bomber mission, has nearly put me in a comma more than once. Come on!! The roar of four radial engines should make the hairs on your neck rise with excitement! We want to feel the excitement of the flight, hear it, taste it! Not wake up drooling down our belly, six sectors past the target! I want to "hear" AH ROCK!!! <S> AH

I'd suggest you download TB's soundpack... it does really add a lot to the game.
Open up 'My Computer', double click on your local disk (it will probably be the C:\ drive), double click on program files (it may give you some kind of warning message, just click past it), double click on the folder called 'HTC', then the folder 'Aces High II' inside of that. In there there will be a folder called 'sounds'. Rename that folder 'default_sounds' or something. When you download TB's soundpack, you will need to un-zip it, and extract it to the folder C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\Sounds (it should make a new sounds folder if you tell it to extract there, if not just make a new one).
Hope that helps...

Great info Bro, thanks. Now, how do I find this TB site and get to the sound file?

Look for TwinBoom's thread in the custom skins and sounds sub-board.

im defiantly not computer savvy and i still use one, and don't have a problem, if you hadn't tried using one, try it you never know

I highly recommend TicToks sound pack for truly good engine sounds.

I have them all and use a mix of the best from the bunch with particular focus on German aircraft engine and gun sounds.
I have such a mix that I have no idea what is what anymore.
