Like the WWII in color stuff, having color just gives it a totally different tone af reality IMHO.

Some of those photos just looked too clean.

Photos 9, 12, 15, 16 looked the most genuine to me.

They worked for National Geographic after the War.   They aren't clean, it's just like music.   Some take care of their material.   I guarantee you Hildenbrand and Gervais-Courtellemont "took great care of their" material.

As did Frank Hurley on the Shackleton Expedition.   

Those are ALL genuine.

Good set of pics. 

A terrible war whose effects are still felt today.  Though overshadowed by WWII, it should never be forgotten or its world changing nature be underestimated.
