Now well into my 6 straight month of sucking. Still on a steady decline in skills, and about 80% of my sorties end up with me dead within 5 minutes. I somehow have about 1.0 K/S ratio (used to get 2.6 K/S at my best), but I wouldn't be surprised if most all of those kills have come from vulching, proxies, and just plain dumb luck. I sometimes wonder why I get my hopes up anymore about actually doing better than before, it just gets me so depressed when I do and then realize that I still suck at most everything I do. :(

Take contact with a trainer.
Tactics to increase k/d :
Never ever take off from a capped field.
IF coalt with an enemy - reverse and climb. if you suck you probably will be in the receiving end of the combat.
Set a harddeck- an altitude that you will never be below in combat
Stay fast . be patient - if you miss dont try to get the other guy by turning - climb up from where you came from and attack again.
If you suck at gunnery use .50 caliber or hispano equipped planes and set convergence 400. never shoot longer than 400 yards.
Find a wingman and use intercom with other guys.
Join a squad with veterans that can give you help.

Havent studied the convergence part much. Certain planes
I've upped to 500. Is 400 really the ideal max for most?

my ACMs are so so :(
my SA is pure garbage.

It's a game, take a break from it.
I took about a 2 month break from AH during my exams and when I came back I was marginally better than before :D

when i take a break i should just as well go to the TA and talk to a trainer, i suck after a leave. Latrobe, i know how ya feel. if your used toa stick and dont have one, get one; i was in that situation and it sucked. try and make the game fun, dont worry about score. up when you want, wer you want, what you want and fly how you wanna fly. :salute hope you get better soon!

Most days I feel like I'm a horrible pileit, then I'll have a couple hrs, when I think,"hey, I might be getting this"......then cats like dmdgoose, dastardly, all them folks come by, and I suck again. The thing here weedhoppa is,.....set your goals low, and you won't disapoint yerself! ;). & Quit fishin ya newb :rock

I'm sure by now your getting a picture painted for ya,... Going it alone doesn't do you alot of good. Especially if your not that good to begin with. I've had my best success when I was with well managed squads, that had enough vets to teach some real good tips. The first rule of aviation, even in the real world is, "you never stop learnning." If you raise the main gear, thinking your the best or the baddest, your going to get your feelings hurt always. You got guys in here that have been doing this since the game first started. They have nothing better to do, than to search the skies for people like you and me. You'll never know it all, neither will they. But it is a certainty, that they know more than you, and that's the edge they will have over you, until you become a student again. If the way your doing things aint working for ya, then be willing to change tactics.
By the way, I'm looking for a good squad to get into. It's been 3 years since my last visit to this game. I remember you from back then. I'm sure I'm rusty enough for you to take me out quickly! Unless you've wasted 3 years and haven't learned a thing, outside of what you think you already know.

Good, well its not just me then. My squadies and I just finished our tour and came back bish and I was :noid when I havent landed kills in over a week. just plain old rotten luck. I got a little bit better just mixing it up a bit in the DA and filming the sorties as I go.

Heh. I've never done much better than that. When you get to 12 1/2 years of sucking let me know.

Close to two years now, and I'm yet to get over a 1.5 K/D and accuracy of 1%. My flying styles for fun simply don't allow it. I dive into hordes, never fly any one planes more than a few times a day, take off from capped fields, turn fight Zekes in a Typh and more.
However a small break can possibly help, I took a three week break and actually managed to hit something again after that. :D
So congratulations on even having those scores, beats me! Heck I'm luckily if my score drops below 1000 overall. :)

This can be diagnosed without even watching you fly. You're taking off too frequently where the enemy has your airfield and airspace under its control. If you don't want to die a lot, then you shouldn't even encounter the enemy until at least 5 minutes after you take off.
