I'm finding it harder and harder to find a source for MRE's. Unlike most people, I love them! God help me, I love them so...
Anyway, anyone find a source for the Milspec brand that has them in stock? Every place I've checked have been sold out due to the rations going to Iraq/Afghanistan.

Yeah they are hard to find. You might want to check Cheaper then Dirt or maybe one of the bigtime outdoors places, tho I doubt they'd have MilSpec. I forgot where I got my last batch cause I draw them down during hunting season and then refill them every two or three years. I always plan on having a two week supply at home ready of food and water. Good luck. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MRE125-1.html

Aside of this why do you want MRE ?

'Cuz I love 'em!
-
It's true... they're DEEEEEELICIOUS! They even have crackers! Yum!
-
Most people have always thought MRE's tasted bad. I found that they are actually pretty good from time to time. Wouldn't want to eat them for a long time though.
-
All the good MREs are in package B, just to let yall know. I get mine from an armory right down the road where i know some
people. Theyre not brand new but they are still pretty good.

O.o until you have to eat em 3x a day for like 30+ days straight.

MRE = Meals Rejected by Ethiopia

Why MILSPEC? The same companies that sell to the military, also sell MREs to civilians. And from the reviews I have read, they are nearly identical to the military versions except for the external packaging/labeling. And you dont have to worry about a portion of the shelf life being used up moving their way through military surplus...
See the following:

I remember empty telling me MRE's were three lies in one package.

I spent 4 years active duty in the Navy. 3 years 3 months and 19 days of that on sea duty. So far, every MRE I've eaten has beaten everyone of those except for one, the Thanksgiving meal we had in the Med. while underway in 1987. I worked in the cargo division on a supply ship, 20 - 30 hour days were our norm, I remember hitting my rack so damned hungry I couldn't sleep. I've learned that just about any meal put in front of me is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every day a vacation...hmmmm, where have I heard that before? Anyway, MRE's are amazing for what they offer. So yeah, if I could eat them 3x a day I would only there is no breakfast/lunch/dinner menu offered...but I wish there was...so does my wife, she wouldn't have to cook!

You am a sick sick puppy......
I miss the old C rats. They were far better than the early MRE's. I'd rather eat Ham and Lima Beans C rats than some of the first MRE's. I haven't had any MRE's now since the late 80's. I would hope by now they had more of them that were fit to eat besides the hotdogs meal.

I've had them on more than a few occasions in the last couple years...I'm getting hooks on the veggie thingies. EVERY frikkin time though: sit around for...ohh...2 hours...sit...sit...pace...pa ce....someone drops off mre's....4 min 23 seconds later...."OK...PACK UP YOUR STUFF LETS GO!".......damnit

Only thing I didn't like about MRE's was the dehydrated fruit and that we didn't have those fancy heaters in them like they do today. We had to come up with creative ways to heat up our food.

Tonight I had for dinner breaded chicken breast with cavatelli pasta in a tomato sauce, most nom nom nommy! With it came wheat bread and cheese with bacon spread, 2 large fig bars and a nice big back of nut raisin mix with pan coated chocolate disks. 9 out of 10!
-
I used to pick them up at the Army/Navy surplus, the chili mac isn't too bad. Some commissary's have them too.
In the operational world we carry them on board the boat for extended missions.
