Or has this board turned into some sort of pc correct land? No political discussions... no decent flame bait? This place could get your blood boiling but it did make you think now and then. Now the best thread typicaly is Wed's babe. Heck I got a 1 week ban for spelling out the f-bomb. I guess this is due to the need to protect the eyes of the local 9 yr old AD tardlings that have helped ruin this game?
I miss the old days of blood, spit and general mayhem.

Yup. There's an Obama thread every two seconds, lots of racsist morons, no discussion only a few individuals who have claimed the board as their own and crawl all over each other to be as non PC as possible.

You know I have no dog in the fight you're referring to, Curv. That said, the flip side of the coin is that there is the quiet solace that this board affords and the safety of that little button in the lower right of every post.

Well Rollins, I have no beef with you except to say that I have yet to see you take any sort of stance against the kind of nonesense that is spewed over there. Unless you believe in it all (which I hope you don't) why do you stay quiet and never say anything?
The fact is...I know why. You don't want to make yorself "unpopular" and have certain idiots follow your posts around making childish comments time after time after time. This I can understand, because eventually it just gets sickeningly boring and sticking around is like bashing your head against a wall.
Based on some of the PMs and emails I've gotten recently I suspect that board will soon be simply a circle jerk for a bunch of right wing extremists and racists. If that is your *thing* so be it. I'd rather not be associated with that kind of thinking, so I left. I feel bad for Nuke, because I know for a fact he doesn't like it either, but he made a commitment to start a board with no moderation, so I respect his decision to stick by that. I think the hope is that the novelty of using the "n" word or being publically as non pc as possible will wear off. I have my doubts.
I also very much suspect that the personas that you see over there now in many cases do not equate to the real person behind the keyboard. Some over there have defiantely got two distinct personalities, an online one and the real one. I just can't do that.

Interesting thoughts. I certainly think your assessment is incorrect, however. I don't look at it like a popularity contest, in fact I got in my share of arguments there, check my posts. I have no problem sharing my views on issues, but I am not going to take on the responsibility of telling others what they should say or post. It's not my place.
Just because I don't act like a bbs nanny doesn't mean I am tacitly endorsing what's said there. I'll spend some time there posting up my thoughts and ideas in relation to others, but I am not the den mother.
The reactions to the recent occurrence in American politics (sitting here thinking about getting modded for typing that last sentence, wonder why it thrives over there) are going to die down and there are some decent discussions over there. The fact that the unmoddable one over here comes over and craps in every thread over there is another issue and is between HTC and Mark.
This bbs is the way it is and that's fine by me, I am just able to communicate more efficiently in an environment where I am not consulting a list of rules in a compare/contrast to what I've typed.
IMO you are correct about the board personas vs. actual person.
So, in summary is it better to pick up the ball and go home or stay in the game and play it your way? I'll take the latter.

Well my friend, it's very easy for you to say.
The difference being that if YOU start a thread over there people will discuss it. If I do so (merely because I have a differing opinion on certain topics) I get a bunch of morons yammering about pink shorts and scooters. If I make a valid point in a post the same thing happens. Then all the buddies of said individuals see a way out of an argument they are losing and back that idiot up and it descends into a name calling exercise. It is repetitive bs and is simply a waste of my time. I'm all for a knock down drag-em out argument, but that just doesn't happen.
I'm not crying about it. I just cannot argue with people who effectively stick their fingers in their ears and yell "I can't hear you" like a four year old.

As far as I'm concerned there are only 2 people over there that don't contribute at all, one's a kitchen appliance and the other pwns everything and everybody. ;)

Let's clear this up. You got a 1 week time out for violating the forum posting rules. You even went out of the way to violate the rules. If you chose to snub your nose at us, then you what do you expect in return? A cookie?
You made the choice. You do not like the rules, then leave. Simple solution.
Instead, you come in here full of self-righteous vigor and further insult the members of this community. You are a guest on our board. If you wish to remain a guest, you will either abide by the posting rules, or we can make arrangements for you to leave. Your choice.

No argument there Mav, but then you sir, are an American and a republican, and quite frankly that gives you a measure of respect, even from the real idiots.
How many times do you see responses saying "You don't matter" when I comment, usually right after I have pointed out how foolish an argument someone is making?
You also don't have certain posters following you around the boards and jumping in with snide comments every time you post.
I'd have to be a masochist to stay there and I'm not into that.

Sure it is called Flamewarriors, but as I already said, it would be macochistic of me to go somewhere where I am the one being flamed or pig piled on a constant basis.
