Title: "Flying legends" Duxford Airshow 2009
Post by: Phil on November 20, 2008, 03:35:19 AM
Anyone from London, Duxford ?

Been looking at video clips taken at the Duxford UK airshow July 2008.
Flying legends WWII Spitfires/109's/B17's....

The videos are on UTUBE.COM

Anyone ever been to these shows ?

I'm from Ottawa, Canada and it would cost me approx $1300(Can) to fly down for several days + accommodation and food...

Any of you near Duxford that could give me some input ???

Saw a spitfire fly here in Ottawa and I almost pissed my pants !!! :rofl
I'm gonna drool and go into a convulsion when I get to see 15 of them scramble !!!

Not sure what your question is but I went a few years ago and its a cracking event, not just looking and watching but the sounds are amazing. Theres also the museum (http://duxford.iwm.org.uk/) to look round with planes and GVs.

You wont get many people from Duxford replying as its a little village!, Cambridge is the nearest major town.

My parents live about a mile away from Duxford and they get free entertainment most sunday afternoons with old stuff flying over.

Saw "Wings of Legend" at Duxford this year, met up with Dantoo, Frankwho, Trikky, Tilt and Bruv - had a fantastic day out (despite the weather being somewhat iffy).

Was at Duxford for a show first weekend of September just gone, was great. The Museum will probably take at least a day to go around as well.
Managed to have a sit in a Spit whilst I was there  :D

I stayed in Duxford itself in a hotel that Douglas Bader used to stay at, nice little place and the local pub around the corner has some great personalities in it.

Should book as early as possible for accomadation as they fill up fast around the airshow dates.
