I hope this topice is not a issue. Did you all see that news interview w/ Gov. Palin and in the back round a turkey is getting decapitated or something. The funny part about it the guy keep looking over at the camera with a idiot smile.

Education is a terrible thing to waste.
On a turkey.
-
I saw it, what's so interesting about it? Someone eats meat every day, its a natural part of life. Nothing humorous about it.
-
I found it amusing, but only because it was part of her annual Gov. turkey pardon...
She pardoned two birds about 2 minutes before that... other than that... i'm backing away from this thread now
-
I find it humorous that people were turned off by it. One of the problems in today's society is that people don't know where their food comes from. I mean they even put maxi pads in the bottom of meat packages so people don't have to deal with a little blood.
It would probably do a lot of people some good to go out and butcher their own dinner once in a while.

Who cares if a turkey is pardoned.
Its food, not a human. Kill it and fry it before it spoils
-
I'm surprised PETA hasn't jumped on this yet... :D

You get HF up and going?

If the environmentalists get their way (all humans die), I'm sure that the animal kingdom will see that a vegetarian diet is the way to go.
Of course, the poor leafy greens will get slaughtered. But they don't count. They're not alive like the animals are, right?
If we're not supposed to eat meat, then why does it taste so good? :D

I have both end supports up (one is at 70', the other is at 65') but I will need another person to man the guide rope while I have to maneuver out about 5' around a tree branch on the way up. That should be done Monday. When it's fully installed it should be about 66' (one half wave length) on 40 meters. I'm also on a hillside about 350' above the lake, so the antenna will "sound" like it's even higher.
When I bought this new QTH--and I could see mountains in Queen Wilhelmina State Park some 50 miles away...that's when I decided to buy a 6 meter rig (all mode). I'll home-build a 5 element yagi for it. When I saw what they wanted for 5 and 6 element yagis....definitely a home brew job. I've never been on 6M, but with being on a mountainside?? I HAVE to try it out. It might take a few weeks to get everything ready for 50 mHz.
BTW: Rip....thank you for fixing my post. Well done, sir!
My turkey is defrosting in the garage fridge. Normally I do the "Anti-Turkey" out on the grill, but since it's just the 2 of us this year, we're going minimalist. No pardon for mine!

I havent heard much on 6 meters this fall, I must of not been on at the right time. I do enjoy running mobile though, but with 5 antennas on the truck now I think I have to stop. Wouldnt mind having 17/15 meters also but 5 is enough!
2 meter high gain (stacked 5/8?), 6 meter 1/4 wave, 102" whip for 10/12, hamstick for 40 and for 20 meters

No confusion...that's the thing that sticks in my head on your ID...rpm..."RP" or "rip" to me.
You are you...the TX man from the far down back 40 who is tops at poker.
I'm a craps player myself.
I'm on the side of a mountain in AR...we have to go pretty far for a legal game around here.

I grew up on a farm and we use to lop chicken heads off every Saturday for Sunday dinner. It amazes at the wimps that Americans have become.

Who cares if a turkey is pardoned.
I guess it would really come down to what it was convicted of.

It was convicted of not having a coat of gravy and filled with stuffing.

I wouldn't "pardon" a turkey. I'd catch it, chop its head off, clean it, and eat it. Savoring the meat filled spittle as it leaked out my mouth.
Just like the 9,000,000 birds and animals Ive hunted, killed, and et before it. Or the ones Ive bought from farmers, killed my ownself, cleaned, butchered, and et. Eventually pooping out all.
Explain to me slowly why this is national news?
Hahahahahah, I got a sister in Law whose a PETA type , from 'frisco. You should hear those conversations. hahahahahhahahaha

it was just funny to see the news interview going on while in the back round a turkey is be decapitated.

The sister in Law? The Peta one? She flew in for a visit, saw my menagerie on the wall, the house draped in camo, the rooms stocked with Cro-Magnon man hunting/gathering implements? The father and son perfectly honed for the chase and kill? Like male Lions with a wiff of zebra. And then she opened her PETA yap. :huh Five minutes later she was running out the house in tears suitcase in hand. :lol The next day she called to apologize, I guess the rates at the Holiday Inn were high. Funny thing is she's not even a vegetarian like my wife, who likes hunting/fishing. She just thinks that nobody should actually kill the animals she eats.
Like Star Trek. Just push a few buttons and the computer synthesizes the meat.
-
You must share how you made her run out of the house in tears :)

You must share how you made her run out of the house in tears :)
She started a rant about hunting. Looked at my trophies and said to my wife, "thinking I didn't hear", how do you live with those things on the wall? And she went on, and on, and on. Full of San Francisco PETA, trip the world fantastic, wrath. Oh man, the whining and sniveling............
And then I got fierce, eyeball to eyeball, and would get skuzzied if I printed what I said. Next thing I know she's fleeing out of my house like her arse was on fire.
I am proud to be an American hunter and gun owner. I'm the biggest believer in the 2nd amendment you ever met. And nobody is going to insult me for it, most of all in my own house.

The antenna is UP!!!! PM me and we can get on 40m and do a sked sometime.
Check the propagation boards...there is a MAJOR coronal hole event right now, and many areas are reporting Aurora and sporatic E events!!
There was a SWEET two sets of Sporatic E last night from here. I worked into the desert SW on 10m and beacons were popping everywhere. I switched to the HHH net on 40 (0700) 7.235 and worked all over North America, but the signals were fluttery on the guys in Canada and northern states like aurora event. Rora-Tonga was on the net too an he had some aurora on his signal as well...odd, the VK4 was louder than he was.
THAT is one AWESOME set of arrays for a mobile....any more antennas and you are going to tip over in the wind!!
Back to the turkey--most around here use cornbread stuffing. I use the sausage stuffing I put on the last 2 AH recipe swaps. I also put in cherries, slivered almonds, and dried cranberries.
Turkey: Ye are guilty of being TASTY, and your sentance....5 hours on my oven. CASE CLOSED!
