YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just thought this was funny. Came into 21 with a 190-f8 and 12 rocks, killed all ack but one under duress and managed one kill before shot down by the Lgay7 that was chasing me around. Bailed out missing wing and LA landed. Decided I'd walk over to the runway and shoot the LA in the head as he came up...if i could. The LA took off from the other end so I waited.
While waiting i said, I hope someone good comes up like shreck. 3 min later a plane is on the runway and guess who it was...hehheheh
Was a lot of fun and made me laugh anyway. Shreck on the other hand didn't think so and was P'ed off :rofl

Anyone ever try this? heheheh

Yep did it a lot right after they made the gun work. Sit right where they take off and put a few rounds into the pilots head. If it didn't kill them they had a pilot wound and you would usually get the kill when someone else got them. Even got called a cheater after doing it, and everytime I killed someone with it they would whine on 200.
-
I never have done so myself, but have had it happen to me. Chuckles....Poor Shreck! :lol
-
Ask Yanks about this!!
:noid

Awww Shrecks not a bad bad guy. I've flown with him and against him a few times. Sure he doesn't like getting shot down and can complain sometimes about it but like most good n cocky sim pilots, he hates being shot down... especially by a nobody.
It's funny that I was hoping for someone good to come up and had just picked his name out of a hat ....then.... THERE HE WAS!!! :rofl :lol :rofl
-
:aok That was awesome TOOLS.
-
Yeah that was fairly great. :aok :salute

Yes it works have done it & have had it done to me. The best one I recall was a Mossie dove down to nail me in my chute fired off several rounds & he went boom. Plenty of PM's on that one.
-
someone once killed my engine w/ the .45 as i was paparing to take off. so i just bailed and went over and shot him in the back. boom.
-
That'd be an interesting way to capture a base. Wonder how many guys with 45's it would take to bring down a town...lol

Argh! This has got me thinking of that old video from the SEA. When the CM fires for the start of the Air racing, and kill all the competitors? Anyone have it? Or have the link for it?
EDIT - Found it! One of the best AH videos out there!

Funny thing was.. I took off and was at about 50 feet when bombs hit my plane. I heard really loud hits on the wings then boom. Too funny :aok I had been hit on the ground before but that was a first for me.

When I played WW2OL, you could disable a tank by just walking up to it and firing your pistol into the driver view port and killing the driver. This would pretty much render the tank into nothing more than a pill box.
ack-ack
-
:rofl
-
ww2 early tanks did not have periscopes for driver so ww2online where simulating Real Life
a .45 cannot penetrate a cocpit canopy afaik.

I thought at one time you could do that in this game. I've never done it but have tryed. :)

that was absolutely hilarious. :rofl

Yeah, cuz that last .05 in caliber made all the difference.... Mostly, what you mean to say is MANY .45 rounds would have limited penetration against well made canopies, which would be true.
A .45 ACP (standard round, WW2) will penetrate a solid steel combat helmet at 90 to 110 feet easily. (Not much beyond that, though) A .45 ACP fired at the side of an A/C canopy would get the desired results.
Armorglass in WW2 was incredibly heavy and sparsely used until mid to late war, when engine design caught up to expected fighter weights. Late series 109's were the early users of heavy armorglass, due to cockpit frame design.(G's got 90mm windscreen armor) 190's employed 50mm armorglass frontally ONLY, which was expected to deflect up to .50 caliber rounds, the rest of the canopy wouldn't withstand 7.62 mm rounds. (The 190 A-8/R8 was an exception, with a canopy that had 50mm frontally, and 30 mm all the way around, due to it's design to attack bomber formations) Both the Spitfire and Hurricane entered manufacturing without any canopy armoring whatsoever...they actually BOLTED on a plate of early armorglass to the windscreen exterior on the Spit, and cost it 10 kmh with that little 10mm plate.
In short, a .45 ACP will penetrate most A/C canopy.
