I used to play Warbirds somewhere around (damn) 10 years ago... and Aces High sometime around when it came out. Haven't played in years. It seemed like the online WWII flight simming was thriving then, and subsequently died off...
With the dearth of flight sim action (like there was in the late '90s), how has the Aces High community/in-game action been? always somebody to shoot at? How is Warbirds? That seemed to be going south years ago thanks to the company that owned WB... If I recall, that may be why/when AH did it's thing.
So, in general - for those who go back a decade, how are things compared to yesteryear? :-)
For what it's worth, this forum looks pretty healthy. ;-)

Warbirds in its reincarnated version version 3 - is still going strong on the scenario side, not so much in the arenas though. if HTC owned S3 scenarios noone would even bother
to go there.
Warbirds is also more expensive than AH.
Differences between the 2 are not that big except for gunnery : you get 2-3 times more kill for your ammo in Aces High compared with WB.
Played WB for 12 years, and still counting. AH since a year - same handle as always in both games : "save"

AH water is fine, come on in bro.
Most of the AW and WB types all ended up here. Some have burned out and moved on.
But some of us are still here.
Flew WB from 96 - 2000 Last couple years mostly in the Historical Arena.

hi,
alot of old warbirders joined AH during the last 2 Years, myself too. It was a great decision. Jump in and find out :salute

Frodo
I remember a "usa" from warbirds, maybe it's the same guy. If you ever flew in the squadron select series in Warbirds you'll find our Friday Squad Ops match up pretty well.
-
Yea I was wondering too. Had a USA in our squad, The Red Falcons.

-rebel here from WB's.
WB's is almost painful to play and/or watch now. I seriously do not know how anybody can continue playing that thing.
C'mon in, dude. If ya want a friendly duel to shake off the rust and get used to the system, gimmie a holler.

any old warbirds guys here post your wb handle if its different to your AH handle so we sorta know who we all are. phatzo in AH was addman in WB

Ghost- or Ghostt in WB, switched to Ghosth for AH when it went pay for play, been here ever since.
Used to be a Zeke freak, loved the IJN stuff. Fly a wider range of planes now, really like the russian birds. Wish we had more.

WarSix-- Flew Warbirds from 1999- 2004) was Osprey of the Avengers ( 2.77 FO arena) and VMF158 Green Mountain Boys ( main arena in its day). Finally getting the "feel" of plane modeling in AH after 2.5 years though feel views ,although adjustable and superior in some ways, and handling not as good as the original WB was - still can't force spin at speed - but the guns are way more potent in AH. Lots of WB veterans in here. I spent most of the first 2 years learning and loving GVing while forgeting Warbirds flight modeling and getting a fresh start in AH flight handling - not so much in actually flying as compared to capabilities of particular opposing plane models versus whatever you in are slighty different and takes time to adjust to plus the addition of many additional models not available in WB's rolling plane sets. Expect it to take a year to adjust to the point you feel as comfortable in your ride as you did in Warbirds. Recommend midwar arena to start as much easier to get into 1 vs 1 dogfights and much smaller furballs ( except Terrible Tuesdays - joking -lots of extra targets) than LW and less planes models to learn and deal with - plus I can get a few easy kills while you take your first few steps:)
<S> Lutrel and the mighty Avengers ...my apologies for downing a few of my former squadies that venture into my playground - MidWar:).
