Anyone know the effective range of the CV ack? Base ack is 8k. CV ack seems to have twice the range.

Ack or Flak?
If you are talking about Flak, there are a couple of ranges. One is the range it first engages you and the other is the range it engages you each time after that.
You can get pretty close to a CV before it opens up, but once it does it follows you for quite some time (heading out) and will instantly target you again if you even think about getting close.

88mm and 5" flack batteries do not fire at you below 3000 AGL.
They will begin firing at you at approximately 2 miles (there abouts) and stay with you out to about 5 miles (there abouts)
Flack sucks. BTW, it can shoot at you through the mountains too. It's magic don't you know

Player-controlled 5" flak can shoot at any range out to max and down to 0, and from way up high down to the deck, and kill things there.

I was refering to the AI ack, as upposed to flak.
At a base you can get within gun/rocket range before it becomes leathal. But with the cv AI ack, you're still way out of gun/rocket range and every one of them has already begun firing at you. So to me, it seems they have twice the range of the base ack. I was just wondering if anyone had the data.
With the AI flak, it seems to be the luck of the draw as to whether or not it gets you. The player controled flak is much more deadly than the AI variaty.
