Title: How to prevent Chute shootings
Post by: Ripsnort on October 12, 2000, 02:22:00 PM
First off, I do NOT discourage anyone in my squad from killing enemy chutes that are within 10 miles (Approx.dot distance) to a friendly, or enemy airfield..due to the fact that anyone on the ground or in a chute has the capability to use his/her country channel for communications, thus they may see C47's launching, or in the case of their own field, C47's approaching (Formations lining up, etc)

Someone mentioned this in a thread before:
Diable text buffer for those in parachutes.

The best way to hinder chute shootings is to perform a HALO like jump.  Open you're chute at the last possible moment.  If the pilot does this, Ripsnort would have to agree that they are just trying to save their skin, not spying.  Of course they have to follow it up by returning to base ASAP once they're on the ground.

Rgr that Karnak, however I found it extremely entertaining last night at A3 as we rolled armour and A/C to it, that an enemy grunt, after hitting the ground, was shot for 'loitering' for more than a few seconds, seems he was doing a recon on the direction of the tanks, and spawn point.  Needless  to say, he became quite upset with me on private when I shot him.  I responded "Should have typed .ef alittle sooner, I would expect you to do the same to me if I were to run around on the ground for longer than 30 seconds, since you can bet your butt that I'm reporting everything I'm seeing to my countrymen"

The halo idea would be cool. stear yourself down. From 30 k you could probably travel 15 miles. maybe close enough not to be captured.

I only shoot people who parachute from japanese planes.  But only to keep with historical accuracy  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) and restore the honor of the cowardly japanese pilot.

Though I must admit not many people who fly those planes bail out.

It's very advisable not to jump out of your plane while being plinked.

Major Tom, USAAF, USN, RAF, Luftwaffe, VVS, IJAAF, IJNAF, they all shot chutes at one time or another.

I won't dive to shoot a chute.. but I'll take out any chute that's co-alt or has an E advantage (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Yeah, but I'm trying to preserve the honor of the japanese pilot  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Japanese high command had to order their pilots to wear and use chutes.  There was no dishonor for the pilot to use one.
