Alright, I need oppinions from all you college grads. Im doing the running start program to make up a social studies credit I dont have time to take in highschool, and the registration is due monday, but I still cannot make up my mind. Im a history fan, especially military history, but history in general is great. Which is a more interesting class? Anthropology (ANTH 200)? Or World Civilizations I (151)?

Doesn't sound anywhere near as interesting as World Civilizations I.
In any case... why do you need to make up a social studies credit?

Because we're required to take 4 years of social studies to graduate highschool. I need to skip over social studies next year in order to take AP Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, AP English, French, and Autoshop (I know jack **** about cars and I need to learn at least a little). Ive already taken the highest level class my school offers, AP US history, so im not missing anything, I just dont have an oppening in my schedule to grab a credit.

everyone i know who took anthro hated it, world civilizations is really interesting stuff, mesopotamia, ancient sumer, greece, rome etc, took alot of college history and ancient history is really interesting to me... its all up to what you like, some people do like anthro but i've heard mixed reviews
-
I never took Anthro, but my first adviser in college was the head of the Anthropology department. He was a sweetheart. That serves as credence for me!
-
lol. I was thinking along these lines, so its gonna be world civilizations. Thanks all!
-
I once got into university teaching material for Anthro, - it was dead boring.
So, I think you'll be on a good track with the other one ;)
Good luck.
-
To me, world civ. because I like to look at the way diff people interacted with each other through history
-
Serenity you need your own opinion, not someone else's. Read the course descriptions or syllabuses if they're available.
-
Yeah history sounds more interesting and not as difficult to type as anthrisopappology.
My vote is for history.

I have my own oppinion. Im just one of those crazy people who likes to hear what those have already gone through it think, in case their experiences change my mind. I was thinking world civilizations from the start, you all just confirmed that.
I made the mistake of not looking into others experiences already this year. I signed up for a course in Human Physiology because the course sounded rather interesting, and the teacher was very entertaining. If I had asked my friends who had taken it what they thought of it, I would have found out the class is entirely graded on group projects and that every single person has to contribute equally and prove it or you get an F, that %10 of your grade involves you donating money to charity (Money I cannot afford), and that its the class all of the people too lazy to pass a real science take at my school. Then I would have saved myself unending stress trying to get the people in my groups to do something, gobs of money I really didnt want to give to his charities, and hours and hours of sleep fretting over my grade.
Im not making that mistake again :(

lol. Ive got one. Unfortunately, shes not the oppinion type. She just does what I say, and trusts me to make my own decisions (Big mistake on her part, lol).

cold weather sucks.

Fair enough Serenity.. Just dont forget to actualy digest what others say. FWIW I could see either class being the better one. The better one's teacher could suck, or the material could be bad despite a good teacher, etc. And I dont see that it's guaranteed that anthropology would have to be more boring to learn than civ history.. If it really matters to you (and IMO Id want such an accessory class to be as little of a headache as possible to leave as much brain time over for the most important classes), you should go sit in to both classes till as late as registration/billing allows and pick then.
Good luck..
