Title: Misson: The Battle Of Midway
Post by: soda72 on November 30, 2008, 04:24:03 PM
At 0430 in the morning of 4 June 1942, while 240 miles northwest of Midway, Vice Admiral Chuichi Nagumo's four carriers began launching 108 planes to attack the U.S. base there. Unknown to the Japanese, three U.S. carriers were steaming 215 miles to the east. The two opposing fleets sent out search planes, the Americans to locate an enemy they knew was there and the Japanese as a matter of operational prudence. Seaplanes from Midway were also patrolling along the expected enemy course. One of these spotted, and reported, the Japanese carrier striking force at about 0530.

That seaplane also reported the incoming Japanese planes, and radar confirmed the approaching attack shortly thereafter. Midway launched its own planes. Navy, Marine and Army bombers headed off to attack the Japanese fleet. Midway's Marine Corps Fighting Squadron 221 (VMF-221) intercepted the enemy formation at about 0615. However, the Marines were immediately engaged by an overwhelming force of the very superior Japanese "Zero" fighters and were able to shoot down only a few of the enemy bombers, while suffering great losses themselves.

got a question. When I try to take off as a Zeke I immediately get a wing ripped off as soon as I get on flightdeck. What do I need to do here?

I'd like to try this mission, but I get an error when I try to move the midwayME.res file to ahitter.  The error is 0x80004005.  I have no idea what that is.  I have most of all the other missions installed with no issues.  This is the first time I've seen this.  The btlmdy1.mis was moved to offmiss with no problem, but the map just won't work for me.
   Thanks for any help.

And this time, there are no files to extract. I will guess that Esnips hates slow connections, oh well! THe mission looks great from what I have seen. :salute

It refuses to let me download it.  I click on it and nothing happens.  Really weird because I use the same host for my missions and haven't had any problems.

Soda,

I have been trying to download your Battle of Midway Mission with no luck.

When I try the download links that you have posted, No Go.

A while back I did get it downloaded but, the Map, MidwayME.res included with the file, is corrupt.

Can you tell me how to download from a working link or at least how I can get the Map file MidwayME.res

The map is good to go in the terrain folder, ahiiterr, click on the game, select the terrain, click on Offline practice & it'll materialize.
The offmis folder doesn't work anymore as.res is the one to use WHEN HTC fixes
things.  Be patient!   :aok

yeah this will need to be re-done...  Now that we have the brewster and different map making material...

But I'm not working with it until the tools have been straighted out...
