Ok, I know that the way we have kills awarded is supposed to lesson the reward for head-on engagements, but I discovered an unpleasant side effect today.
I was flying my B-17 on a bombing run and after I had dropped and was making for home I was engaged by a pair of fighters who worked very well as a team. They execicuted a very well timed attack and I salute them for it. Trouble was, I sawed through the wing of a 109 at the same time as he removed one of my wings. So I bailed, and he got a kill. But because I bailed first, I got squat (except the warm fuzzy feeling of vengence).
Don't get me wrong, I don't put a lot importance on score, but I think that the way these kills are awarded only encourage the pilot to behave very un-realisticly, by riding his unflyable bird into the ground instead of bailing.
Some of the time, the fight ends in a tie instead of a draw (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I agree. Nothing worse than watching your opponent explode then get no kill awarded. Had this happen in M16 many times. Not too easy to avoid head-on in one!!

Shot down at least 3-4 this week that hit the ground, bounce, wings fly off, tail flys off, they come to stop and DITCH. All in my friendly territory! Sure they get captured, but no kill is registered.
Oh Well! Better luck next time!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Happened to me last night near A30.
Engaged 109 rear aspect from alt, filled him with lead, saw pieces fall off, black smoke.
See another 109 comeing coalt so I break off attack to defend.
We go HO, smoked him, see pieces fall off.
I died, got neither kill. I can understand not getting the 2nd one, but because I was dead before the 1st one spiraled in I got robbed!
If I cannot land a kill because I die by all means punish me for it. 0 points or - points.
whatever. But at least give me credit for the kill.

It is insane that we do not get credit we deserve for downing aircraft that manage to ditch or crash and the pilot lives.
coupled with the ease of ditching makes things worse
