Title: Looking for an old bit of info
Post by: Serenity on December 02, 2008, 11:14:08 PM
A LONG time back someone posted a story here about a woman who was pulled over by what she thought was a cop, but since she was on a dark road, she called a certain number to get in touch with dispatch and explain that she wanted to get to a more well-lit area before she pulled over. Long story short, it wasnt a cop, it was a racist, she was saved, etc. etc.

What was the deal with that phone number again?

I believe 911 would work.

Was he going to try and 'race' her??

well... aside from 911 every police and sheriffs office has their own non emergency line where you can report less serious things, it's still someone whos technically a dispatcher so if what ever it was turned out to be an emergency they can react.

Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop.   Your normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side.   This is wrong.  It arouses contempt in the cop heart.   Make the bastard chase you.   He will follow.

88, are you condoning wild and reckless behavior on the roadway?  Don't you know that kind of thing is frowned upon here in the politically correct O'Club?  What's wrong with you, man?

I saw couple emails about those rapists, too. If there was a number, I didn't pay attention to that. They're right, 911 would work.

well, here in jersey, if you've dopne something wrong, you're much much safer to stop your car and run on foot. first off, there's the jersey drivers. i know i need say no more on that one.
second, jersey state pd couldn't hit dirt if they fell over.

couple years ago, they';re chasin some guy. he bails out of his car right near here, and runs into the woods. there were state troopers allll over the place. they felt the need to shoot at him. 200 times between all of em. supposedly, he was never more than 50 yardfs away. not one single round hit him. somewhat disturbing, really.

but the real question is how many of your sheep did they take when they left?

Dover, Delaware (CNN)- A woman was pulled over by what she thought was a cop, but since she was on a dark road, she wanted to call a certain number to get in touch with dispatch and explain that she wanted to get to a more well-lit area before she pulled over. Long story short, it wasnt a cop, it was a racist.  By dialing that one number she was saved from his narrow-minded, racist beliefs. That woman declined to give the exact number, stating "You can only hope that a teenage islander may one day cruise a moderately well-know internet aircraft related forum and discover exactly what that life-saving number was.  Until then, mum's the word here."

Police officials declined to comment specifically, saying only "What was the deal with that phone number again?"

Id hesitate with 911, because its not really an emergency. I was asking not for me but for my girlfriend. She just got her license, and has REALLY bad luck when it comes to finding crazy people, and unfortunately Im not always there to help out. I just remembered that story and the number, and wanted to pass it on to her as kind of an added assurance that she will be safe.

dude......

stick with the 911 number. if she's REMOTLY scared, and thinks it may not be a real cop....such as if an unmarked is pulling her over.....then it does(in my mind anyway) qualify as an emergency.

911 will understand. In fact there is nothing wrong with driving to a populated and well lit area. The officer in the car will understand if he is a policeman. That is exactly what he would tell you to do.
Title: It's 77, or is it?

I think there is no problem with 911 as long as you aren't complaining about the traffic or how your sandwich was not made the way you ordered it.

I had a girlfriend call 911 after a bill collector, looking for me, yelled at her and threatened her.  They couldn't do anything, took a report, but it made her feel better.

Just did a google search for "Blue Light Rapist".  Found this on snopes: http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/fakecop.asp (http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/fakecop.asp)

The number to call is an urban legend, kind of.  The Blue Light Rapist isn't.  Read it.  I'd just dial 911.

well, i thnk it's aout 2 years or maybe 3 now.......right here in lindenwold nj, there was a couple guys, bought crown vic ex-pd cars. they installed their own strobes in the head& taillights, and would stop people late at night. was usually on the lindenwold/gibbsboro border. they only robbed the people they stopped, but it could've been much much worse.
 they did get caught BTW.
