Title: WWII Camp: a day in the life of a B-17 Aviator
Post by: texasmom on December 03, 2008, 10:20:08 PM
For those of you who live in Georgia, this looks awesome.  There's only 14 spots left on this thing. I didn't look up the price.  But the link brings you to the info page.

"This is a life changing experience as you spend 36 hours reliving a day in the life of a B-17 World War II Aviator.   Imagine climbing into a B-17 and traveling back in time to 1944 and about to embark on your final bombing mission over Nazi Germany.
From the 7 AM mission briefing through the amazing realism of the world's most advanced flight simulation to strapping on your parachutes to embark on an extended "bombing run" in an authentic B-17 bomber, you will find yourself fully immersed as you relive a day in the life of a combat warrior.
You won't just understand what it's like to be a WW II aviator, you will actually be that aviator.  You will better understand what our fathers and grandfathers experienced because you will have been as close to real as it gets."

Kool,
Looks fun, but I don't have 2K around to spend. Anyone want to make a "Send Phaser to camp fund"?

 :salute

$1,941.00, it would be worth it.

If the money wasnt an issue Id book it in a heart beat. All that history and to be able to man 1 of the guns (if only a token gesture) would be once in a life time.

That's a good price. Vintage warbird rides are already expensive. With all the extra fluff, it's a good buy.

I wonder how old you have to be to book a ride...

I was thinking the same thing... My parents were about to drop a little more than that to send me to NFA this summer...

Hmm... go to Washington DC for 2 weeks, and not wear casual clothing, have no freedoms, and do stupid sh** at the pentagon... OR fly in a B-17 and do historic missions....

[sarcasm] that's a tough one [/sarcasm]

NFA will get me all my ground school and 10 hours air-time for my powered license. Saves me about $4,000

Nice. I think I'll do this man :) It's like 3k+ to go to DC, or 2k to do this.

Its actually a hard decision. One is an event of a lifetime. The other gets my pilot's license.

It doesn't give much detail about the simulator.  Wish they had pictures/videos of it.  The ride in the B-17 would be pretty slick.  Seems like a good price for everything.
