I was saddled up on a vfield this morning in my panzer. Ack opened up on me just as a panzer popped up. So, I select AP and open up on him. Three hits, and he hasn't hit me, so he ditches (lather, rinse, repeat). This went on for quite awhile (I have film of it after the third ditch) until he finally hits me once. I die. WTF fun is that? I've gone to great lengths to find fun in this game, since my modem problem obviated itself, but this tactic reeks. I suppose it's my fault for not getting support from my fellow bishops, but wtf fun is it if one guy can hold you off like this? I'm sure he feels brave and omnipotent, but my fun just went down the toilet.

You should be able to destroy the VH with about 15 HE rounds.

That's not the point (not that I stated it clearly). You don't have time to hit it that many times when the guy respawns so quickly. And this guys wasn't waiting to die. So, for all the AP I fired, not one single kill.
I've been doing this for so long that I'll probably return after an experience like this. How many new guys would? Like we've seen before, they'll get upset, post on the BBS, get their feelings hurt, and finally we have a mud fight with someone leaving.
If someone hasn't left the spawn point, gets hit, and exits without moving, the host should award a kill. If you are stupid enough to come up from a spawn point that is zeroed in on, you deserve to give up kills. That's my take on it.

Voss when attacking a V field in a tank sit about 5000yds out and lob 20HE shells into the hanger. Icon range is only 3.3
then drive up onto the field dispatch the acks and park by the maproom
someone comes to that field to defend it and they can see you but can't do a damn thing about it.

I've had similar experiences. I think that when you are being pinged by acks something goes haywire. Sometimes your guns seem to have no power, sometimes the enemys' guns seem to have no power. Maybe the packets are so full of ack pings that there's no room for 75mm pings. I think it's a bug. Stay out of the ack and your gun will work.

A similar thing happened to me Tuesday. Tom24 & I drove to a base in panzers. When we got close (4.5k or so) a panzer popped up. I destroyed him with 2 shells. He popped up again and started driving in circles. Luckly I got him yet again. Again he popped up, again I killed him. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) Then he popped up another time, I shot him as soon as he got into icon range for the 4th time. Then for some reason he popped up, waited for me to hit him, then he would ditch. He did this 4 times!!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/mad.gif) I usually don't get angry at anyone, but this guy was really getting me mad. I asked him why he kept ditching after I shot him, but I got no answer.
Fortunately it seems HTC know about this, and I saw in a post by Pyro that this would be fixed for 1.03.

You think you got troubles, today I hear that one of our Vehicle bases is under attack so pop out in a M16 to defend it (I know as of late this is not a Knightly thing to do, but hey, I'm old school (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) ) and there is a B17 dropping bombs all over the place, so I bob and weave, and he runs out of bombs after getting the hanger and ack, and several near misses on my pannicing track. Then in come not one but 2 goons. I think Oh goodie time to rock. But they just circle the field, with me taking pot shot at then whenever tey come within 2K and them dodging wildly back out of range. This goes on for nearly 10 minutes (real minutes, not panicked tanker minutes) with me calling for help, cause I knowze what's a comming. Then here he comes, the lone cannon hog. I am doing about 30 mph and weaving, and then from about 1.9,k I'm dead, no ping, no nothing, just dead. and jolly gets a kill on me. (nothing against Jolly, mind you, it just sucked in general.) Oh well.

Voss, your right.
The tank sim portion of this game is still in its infancy.
I would like to mention what HiTech spilled some info about what they're going to change in the future.
- No icons till 1.5k between aircraft and tanks.
- No icons AT ALL between enemy ground units
- A Sherman tank range finder. Across the top of the sight will be several boxes of decreasing sizes with ranges listed near them. Find one that fits another tank or tank sized object and that will tell you its range. Then slew the crosshairs onto it for the range (similar to what we already have) and let loose.
- Self propelled artillery. HTC already said that a M7 Priest is going to be added soon. This should do a better job of bombarding enemy fields into itty bitty pieces. Tanks are for killing other armored tanks and vehicles, not destroying large buildings. The warhead in a tank's main gun isn't big enough.
- Ground objects. There is going to be terrian to play around in instead of a vast, green desert.

Yes, exiting a tank with damage will count as a ditch, at least according to what Pyro claimed. (thankfully).
My lethality study shows 20 HE rounds for a hangar, not 15 (unless I slipped up in typing it in).
Wmutt, that sucks, but the c47s weren't about to come in. As for the cannon hawg, well you know as well as I do that the m16 is a vulnerable piece of junk to anything with cannons: all your attacker has to do is hose down the area from d 1.5, and you're dead before you can even hit him.
(for this reason, I recommend a Panzer for field defense. The Mg42 is sufficient for killing paratroopers, and a practiced hand can get those pesky C47s with the main gun).

We also need a vehicle friendly terrain. Some roads would be nice. The vehicles could achieve higher speeds and there would be an added strategy element: ambushes. At key intersections, tanks could hide and await their prey.

Adding a 5 to 10 minute delay before allowing respawning at the base from which you last left might add realism.
