Title: A future update idea.
Post by: daddog on December 05, 2008, 03:29:43 PM
An update that would focus on the sea war aspect of the game. This would be a huge plus in game play not only for special events, but the MA game play.

Adding several sea planes that could launch from ports. To list a few:
Britian - Sunderland
U.S. - Kingfisher
U. S. - PBY
Germany - Dornier Do 26
Japan - FM1 (Pete)
Japan - A6M2 (Rufe)
Japan - H8K (Emily)

Couple this with the ability for players to control (independently of any fleet) destroyers that can be launched from ports with torpedoes.

Maybe add a German and Japanese patrol boat.

Would be a lot of fun. :)

The player-run DD's may imbalance the game, but in my opinion it would be a blast.  I hope they do update the naval aspect in some way.  Aces High already has a decent (please don't flame all complaints here) ground war aspect, why give naval combat the shaft?

Some more sea planes surely can't hurt...or perhaps more diversity in current naval weapon load outs.  (skipping bombs anyone? :)  )

Interesting comment on the DD's. Maybe give them a limited range around the port to limit them to port-defense only. Otherwise you might get a boring old squad to launch a bunch of DD's on ozkansas and go AFK for 3 hours and come back next to an HQ ready to shell it.

The PBY could have been interesting for use in the recent Midway FSO.

...What?

I'm gonna have to vote no on the DD's... But the float fighters could be quite fun.  It'd make taking a port much harder... Harder than a V-base for sure...

Well they are going to have to redo the terrains with water that is, well, WATER first.

So if they ever do we are going to be starting from scratch with terrains again.

That being said, I'm 2000% in favor.
Flying boats, planes on floats, reworked task groups, E boats or small destroyers being able to be independantly commanded are all things I've waited for for years.

Bring it on!

BTW don't forget the H8k and the H6k Japanese flying boats.
They were heavily armed, carried a huge load, and had fantastic range.

Also need PBY in both day and Black Cats versions.

Float fighters would be a great idea to add to port defense.   :aok

A patrol plane or two would be nice for historical events as well.  Battle of Midway was a good example of that.

Rufe should be a relatively easy and worthfull addition when Zeros get their gfx-update.

Good wish, bring it on.

Not so certain about this one, after all, LVTA's can go from water to land. It may simply be dependent on the property of the object's belly.
