Title: FSO 12/5/2005
Post by: oakranger on December 05, 2008, 11:55:57 PM
Great Job on this FSO, best one i have ever been since Norway campaigned.  The only down side was the vox went out.  And shouldn't there be snow on the ground?

Duxford Wing RAF had 6 guys on and I was the only one with previous experience... needless to say we all cant wait for frames 2 and 3 to get here!  We all had a blast!  It is so very different that the MA.  No dar bar.  No contant waves of Spit16, lala, or georges.  The pony isnt the king cheese everyone says it is and we exepcted them.   ;)  Hey, I even got one in my Fw190A-8.  :aok

I didnt realize that the Bulge had that much air combat prior or during the actual offensive.   ;)

It was quite impressive to see hundreds (yes, hundreds) of friendly gv's heading towards a single enemy veh base.   :)

I dont know the numbers, but me thinks the allies have too many gv's and the axis has too many aircraft.  *shrugs*  Regardless, we had a great time!!!

That was great! This is defintaly the best FSO I have been in.
I flew with Hellcat Fighter Group. We upped in ponies to defend a-16. Didnt end well since about 20-30 Lw guys came in outnumbering us 3-1 :O
totalled, we got about 15 of them, but at the end another guy and myself were left. We headed south to help out the GV battle. Again outnumbered we attacked only the outter fighters to prevent being ganged. Turned out it worked pretty good. :rock
In the end, I got 8 Air-to-Air kills and 1 gv kill.

I thought it was great up to the point when we had M-8's going up against Tigers and Panzers. This was supposed to be late in the war and the Geramns were overwhelmed by the Shermans.

Yea, thats the other downside of this event.  Too many allied GVs and too many axis aircrafts.

Why didn't you up Shermans?  Others did- I saw plenty of them.

Perhaps the Axis tankers stayed alive longer...weren't Shermans, Wirbles, Tigers disabled after T+90?

I must say that FSO was fantastic. It was very cool to see over 100 tanks rush up on a base and shred it to pieces. It was very realistic. Everybody worked together. Great job 4XTCH on setting up and hosting. Great Job SheGotYa and Chappy you guys did an excellent job also. I cannot wait till next Friday.  :salute

Thanks Banshee. It was really cool to be a part of it ... everybody did work together which got the job/objective done along with some kick butt orders from CHAPPY made for an AWESOME night!! The best part for me was no one gave up or had one negative thing to say ... we were focused on the objective and we had fun while concuring it!!! I am looking forward to next week ... maybe by then my cheeks won't hurt any more ... both sets one from sitting for all those hours and the other for all the laughing and smiling since that night.

Initially I did, but like Imadot pointed out we lost them with 30 to go. Although I must admit it was kind of funny to see a dozen M-8s pounding away on a Tiger and listening to everyone cuss.

Seeing all those friendlies in the air and GVs on the ground caused problems.

Can we keep the event spread out a bit more.

Having more than 32 planes within 10k will cause gameplay problems.

We do what we can Kerm, but as FSO (and other events) grow this becomes more and more difficult. Plus once the event starts, our control over where people go is very limited.

Understood Sled.  It's happened for years and many know of this setting.  I posted that really just to remind future CiCs and COs.
Whenever plans ask for a gathering of more than 32 friendlies in one spot, you are guaranteed to have gameplay problems.

Example:  I was following my wingman in the last FSO and he disappeared at 3k, just as 2 P38s appeared at 2.5k in the same spot as where my wingman disappeared.  Friendlies can completely disappearing once at 3k or further.  No icon or dot, they will just simply disappear.

GVs + planes < 32 (in a 10k radius, or 12mi diameter)

Couldn't they just bump the visual distance down to say, 6-8K and then you wouldn't need such a high distance of spacing?
