Mission will roll like last week at 8PM CST so please be in the arena about 20mins before it rolls so we can get the sides right.
This weeks mission will be a US attack on Japanese carriers in the battle of midway. If we can get a staff member in the arena that night to move one or two of the fleets to 8.13 sector so the allies don't have to climb out in CV ack. If not allies will just have to climb out to the east then come back in.
Allies will roll from their CVs NE of midway, find, and try to sink the Japanese carriers. Axis will roll from their carriers and try to stop the allies.
Allies
F4F-4 - Altitude cap 15k - Fighter cover.
SBD-5 - Altitude cap 10K - Dive bombers loaded with a 1,000lb GP bomb.
TBM-3 - Altitude cap 3k - Torpedo bomber loaded with a 2,000lb torpedo.
Axis
A6M2 - Altitude cap 15K - Defend your carriers from the American attack aircraft.

Nice recon work Larry :aok
Should be able to make to this one

I volunteer for an SPD, but will go wherever needed.

Looking foreward to it Larry. Nice work

didnt the japanese get caught with a ton of bombs on the deck?? maybe they should go attack midway while our bomber group climbs out and then on the return have to land and regroup and try to hit the allieds??
-
Yea they had just spotted the US fleets and were changing loadouts on the deck of their CV when the SBDs came in.
If my history is right they always had a group of zeros providing cover during this event. The first American attack planes were TBFs that came in on the deck for a torpedo run and drew the fighters down and they couldn't climb back up fast enough when the SBDs came in. I was ganna make the mission a Japanese attack on midway but OM suggested an attack on the Japanese carriers. If we get allot of people maybe the axis can go attack midway with some divebombers as well. But for this mission to succeed we need about 30-35 people. 10 zeros, 10 SBDs, 5 TMBs, 5 F4Fs. With any luck if we keep running these missions people will take notice like they did before and we get fifty plus people for these thing.

Hey OM can you check to see if TBMs are enabled on the Cvs.

Sadly, the "Pacific Setup Curse" killed the mission. :(

Had to leave work as soon as I moved the fleet, didn't log on until the mission was over. What happened?

Two TBMs, Five SBDs, and one escort F4F who came in as we were diving in on the CV vs five A6Ms.
We had a few problems this week. First being that TBMs can only launch from midway they had to fight there way to our CVs to met up with the SBDs. Second was I made the mistake of telling the SBDs to take 25% fuel thinking that would be enough when it wasn't. And last that the only people that knew what was going on was 353rd, JG54 and a few others. Everyone else were asking "when the mission start"? "Whats this about a mission?" and so on over and over. Then when the mission rolls they are no where to be found while some are repeatably asking the same questions even after they were told what was happening.
Hopefully we can get a setup next week that will have American heavies. Better then that maybe a fin-rus setup where we can have a GV mission.
-
I was your one f4f, I was going to follow the TBMs but a couple A6M's at Midway slowed me down. I should have took off from the cv.
-
Yea if we would have had TBMs from CVs it would have worked. The F4Fs woulldnt have stayed over midway dogfighting zeros as the TBMs tryed to get away.

I hadn't noticed when I went into the AvA Wednesday, but was anything in the MOTD about the setup, other than the usual MOTD?
