Title: Dec-7-1941......
Post by: 1pLUs44 on December 07, 2008, 12:44:09 AM
<<S>> to all who fought and died at Pearl Harbor at the battle which brought America into one of the greatest, if not, the greatest war in history.

At about 7:55 AM, a single bomb hit the deck and plunged into the forward powder magazine of the Battleship USS Arizona, BB-39, and exploded. The blast killed 1100 men, and her captain. Today, they still lay entombed in the Arizona where they fell.

I found a very short, but moving poem reading a book a while back, and it can sum up everything American's have sacrificed in all of America's wars:

“When you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow, we gave ours today .”

Grandfather, William Charles Henwood, was on the USS Monahan during the attack.  I only wish he had not passed away before I was born; it would have been nice to talk to him.

Your correct.."There is nothing GREAT about WAR", and you're entitled to express your opinion.  Here's mine: quit "nitpicking" and honor the intention of the TO.  :furious

:salute to all those that have sacrificed their lives...

The above quote pretty much says it all.

When one gets to visit Pearl Harbor, it really sinks in what happened there.  It seemed to me to be unnaturally quiet and solemn.  Standing on the bow of bridge of Missouri and overlooking Arizona was special.  The beginning and then end tied together by the two ships.

I'll go again.

your interpretation is a little off here I think he meant great as in size and scale not great as in it was a positive thing.
