Title: Problems Deleting Things
Post by: Serenity on December 07, 2008, 04:25:48 AM
Well, the Vista I got on this computer seems to be screwy, as it refuses to uninstall most programs the basic way (Run the uninstaller, or go to control panel and manually remove) so instead I have to find the file on my C drive and manually delete each file for the program. While doing this to clean out a bugged Saitek instalation I have continuosly run into an issue deleting several files. It says permission is needed to delete, but seeing as im the administrator for the computer, why do I need permission? Here is the warning:

On Vista you're not really the administrator of your computer - you're being nannyed all the way. One reason that file might be locked is it's either active (boot into safe mode and delete) or Vista protects it because it's registered or something. You could try regserv -u filename in command and try deleting again.
