Title: Are there any soundpack making tutorials available?
Post by: Halo46 on December 10, 2008, 01:23:51 AM
I enjoy mixing all the fine sound packs these generous producers make. The packs make an incredible addition to the AH experience. I would like to learn how to capture source sounds and complie it into a game ready sound. I would also like to learn more of the sound dynamics of how each sound is used by the game programing if anyone knows. As you probably notice, I haven't a clue about doing this at present. Thanks.

I use SoundForge you can see it hereSOUNDFORGE (http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/soundforge)
I also use AcidPro u can see it hereACIDPRO7 (http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/acidpro)

Basically i get various sounds via videos other games real recordings etc
and remix and convert them into aceshighs sound format

some of my sounds i pull off YouTube by having a .FLV converter
simply convert audio portion then copy paste into soundforge  them follow the names of
sounds in folder while sound is in soundforge u can cut the parts u want ie: engine start
FLV  Converters can be found on cnet
Iuse this oneFLVCONVERTER (http://www.aone-soft.com/flv_to_avi_mpeg_wmv_3gp_mp4_ipod_converter.htm)

sound have to be in wav. form
audio sample size 8 or 16 bit
channels 1(mono) as aceshigh doesn't work with stereo
audio sample rate 22kHz any higher game will pause when sounds load
audio format PCM

hope this helps
