Title: I have to reinvent myself
Post by: uptown on December 14, 2008, 01:32:06 PM
For the last few months I've been getting obsence PMs from a few players over what I thought were harmless jabs at their spelling or calling them out on their shade vulching. And now I'm even getting nasty PMs for killing them in a fair 1 on 1 fight. This kind of behavior is insane to me. I guy even went as far as wanting my address so he could come beat me up and have his way with my wife. All because I made fun of his spelling  :lol And another because I called him out on his shade vulching.

Now I don't claim be be a angel by any stretch of the imagination, far from it as a matter of fact. But I have never ever felt the need or been offended so bad in this game to reply to any of you in such a manner. For one thing you may be a young kid that has no social skills or just off your rocker for all I know. So I won't get personal in that way. But by the same token, how do you know I'm not 10 or 12 years old? Is that how you would talk to a kid? I hope not.

I personally find these type of PMs disturbing and uncalled for. They have no place in a game or anywhere else for that matter. I know I've rubbed some folks the wrong way over the years and some of that was by design to get a good fight or make you make a mistake. I guess that was a poor tactic on my part and for that I apologize for getting to you in such a way in an internet game, to make some resort to personal attacks on my family.

So, as of today I'm turning off 200 for good and try my best to set an example of good sportsmanship and fair play. I'll do my part to act like the adult that I am and make this community a little nicer place to visit.  :salute

I can understand this theres been a huge rise in annoying idiots in this game my nights ended up arena jumping looking for action listening to idiots boo hooing about losing fights or towns (weird) and watching people be cowardly in a make believe game. Dont let it annoy you just do what i did and delete your account!  :lol

No problem. I find it hard to stir the pot when the person is attempting to do the right thing.

I'm assuming you called out a couple of Cowboys for the shade vulching.  I did the same.  They get really testy don't they?  One of them told me he didn't need the shade and he was going to quote "Take over this arena"... whatever that means.  I think his rank is as low as it has ever been since he lost his vulch buddy.  Players like this who cheat and then send despicable private messages to players that call them on it are the lowest form of AH scum.  I say give em more hell.

For the casual heckler here's a nice range insult.  "Hey _____, you haven't changed your name yet?"  :D

DO NOT CEASE TO CORRECT SPELLING AND GRAMMAR.

Poor spelling typists merely show low self-esteem and disrespect for the others about them.

I used to have 200 tuned off, but after having one fine, outstanding, and pleasant jerk PM me after shooting him down, then coming to this board and crying like a baby, I've not only turned on 200, but also my film recorder. It's also good for reporting game bugs, UFO sightings, and reminding you to not try THAT maneuver again.

Yes they do but I didn't read anything in uptown's post that would warrant one. Chances are I'd be a little hot under the collar if someone PM'd me with that kind of personal nonsense. :::shrugs::

I have them all on screen shots but I've never been the type to tattle on folks. I'd much rather give them enough rope so they'll hang themselves. I was in the process of emailing them to HTC but decided against it for the time being. But if the PMs continue I'll seek further action. :salute

print out the threats, send it to austin p.d. and file a criminal complaint, get local court to issue subpoena to divulge the pm'ers account info, we'll see if threats continue.

I plan on detuning 200 when I return to the game. I admit, I can be little mouthy at times but my actions can't really backup/justify my trash talking, not yet (or if at all)

Nothing is funnier than internet tough guys.

Did someone really ask for your address and threaten to beat you up? Hahaha, what a dork.

This is why I think guns are bad.... any damn fool like this could get their hands on one.

 :lol

Being on the other side of the world, I'd take my hat off to anyone who managed to get down here and beat me up.

I told him I lived in Grapevine Texas, (thinking maybe a light bulb would go off) :lol all he said was "great I live in Houston be at your place in an hour" . I told him I'd be at Billy Bobs (a big bar down there. :rofl) I finally asked him if he'd give me a ride to Billy Bobs before he kicked my arse. :lol this went back and forth for a good hour at least. He says he's a engineer making 300 grand a year and went to school at the Citadel. But he couldn't spell deack. He would go off on these 2 or 3 sentence insults and I'd just reply with "stupid". :D

I have to admit that messing with some of these clowns is quite enjoyable' but in the back of my mind I do wonder if some of them are that unhinged to follow through on these threats. Kind of creepy  :uhoh

Mean no disrespect Uptown but I  hardly ever pay much attention to ch200. Most conversations start out fairly well and then degrade to incest, farts, and worse. If you're trying to make a joke or whatever that is just where they head to the toilette. It's an old argument that squelch does a great job with. Now I did get on 200 a little last night. There was a 109 coming for my buffs and I thought I would plead for mercy since my buffs were pretty banged up from being attacked by 4 other cons, 3 died and one limped off. Now I figured that if I received no mercy at least he would be a bit more willing to attack sooner than he thought best because of my weakened condition. Also he may have thought I had no ammo left and that was the ploy. Well he attacked and I had ammo. Of course then again he may not have been tuned to 200  :lol Anyway that is one of the rare times I have used 200.

You catch more flies with sugar then vinegar so next time just tell them they are really skilled and 'almost had you maybe try again?' and when they come back do it all over... they deserve it.

There are alot of arogant winers these days. Complain about Ho or vulching attacks. I had 4 kills and running low on ammo and dragged two on my 6 into the field ack. The wining loser complained about the tactic as he plumeted into the ground. Kill or be killed the only rule is survival. If you are new or stink at this game you can get real frustrated much like Golf and throw your sticks.
