If you haven’t experience western Kansas weather, let me tell you. It can change 10-30 degrees from one day to another or in minutes when a cold front come through. This morning it was 30 degrees. Now it is 19 and still dropping and will be seeing temperatures in the teens by tonight. Yesterday we had high temperatures in the 60's and last night upper 40's.
Winter weather is by far the worst, especially western Kansas. If you are travailing on I-70 in Eastern Colorado or western Kansas, you really have to watch yourself. You can see 20 degree temps with wind chills below 0. When we get snow, it just drifts so band that most of I-70 from Salina, KS to Lima, CO is closed.
In the spring and summer, winds can get up to 75 mph. This is most common between Colby and Okley Ks. Truckers can find them self’s tip over in the ditch and it is quite funny seeing biker almost leaning over 45 degree just to fight the wind.

Yeah it doesnt really matter where a person lives for the most part. Weather can and does change abruptly. Yesterday where I live it was 63 degrees and a nice day, and tonight it is 1.4 degrees and forcast to go below 0 tonight, maybe a few flurries. Ice problems are no fun.

Coronado Museum is a historical museum with a focus on Seward County Kansas. We have guided tours through Dorothy's House and the Land of Oz with Dorothy herself. Dorothy's House is a farmhouse built in 1907 and is set up to show how Dorothy from the "Wizard of Oz" would have lived in the 1930's. The Land of Oz is 5,000 square feet of entertainment including the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and Toto. Dorothy takes the tour through different scenes of the movies while telling her story. The tour ends in an Oz Memorabilia room complete with the original model of Dorothy's House used in the 1939 filming of the movie. The 2nd weekend in October is OzFest - our celebration of the "Wizard of Oz" which includes some of the original munchkins in attendance.
Also in Liberal is Mid-America Air Museum

Located in the heart of America, the Mid-America Air Museum boasts the fifth largest collection of military and civilian aircraft in the United States. Liberal, once home to a major Beech Aircraft manufacturing facility and a B-24 Liberator pilot training base during World War II, established the museum to help preserve a proud local and national aviation heritage. It is a vision started by Colonel Tom Thomas, Jr., who has donated his personal collection of over 50 planes to the museum. The museum houses one of the country's finest hands-on aviation science exhibits, hosts special events like air shows and an aviation camp, presents guest speakers, and features aerospace education programs for students in its 200-seat theater. So, whether you're an aeronautic enthusiast, history buff, or just a family with kids who love airplanes, the Mid-America Air Museum has something for you.
