im posting this film here first maybe someone can tell if this is internet or internal lag or something other really wierd. I recently had
broadband installed and my pings are about 47ms and reasonably
stable. the film is self explanatory.

Looks like lag to me, his ping could be a lot higher than yours. Also posting stuff here like this isn't always the best idea. If it looks funny to your email it to HTC, they will deal with it if there is anything to deal with. For me, I just get anothr plane and try again, they do charge extra for them you know. Don't worry about it, have fun.
-
now i understand why you get booted on hyperlobby for high ping.
Could someone please move this to the approiate forum. Ifn its the
other guys ping im not gonna forward this to htc because there is
nothing much that can be done about it.

Well I watched it with trails on from external view, both his and yours. Generally speaking if there is a big lag problem or dropped packets causing "warping" you can really see the event in the trails. One segment will be many many times longer than the rest.
I didn't see anything like that in this film.

take a look at this screenshot. Notice i am takeing hits.

Warping is one thing, lag is another. When warping your ping is jumping all over the place, and your front end receives the packets and trys to update the pictures on your screen. Some time the packets are slow in coming...high pingtime... then they come faster so the plane warps to the new location instead of getting there smoothly.
Laggin is when the ping time may be more steady...smooth... but just longer. Your ping is 47ms, his might be 300ms. As long as his is steady you won't see the "jumps", but he can be that much out of time with what your seeing.
To me it looks like lag. The only way for YOU to know for sure is to see HIS copy of the film. If you don't think its lag email it to HTC and let them look at it. They can gather more info from the film than we can see using the film viewer.
