hopw i'm not wasting anyones time here, but this just came from one of our IT guys.......
All,
Microsoft has issued a warning to all IE7 users that it has a serious flaw.
Quoting from an article in today's Philadelphia Metro, "The flaw allows criminal gangs to take control remotely of personal computers after users have visited certain hacked web sites. The flaw allows them to steal personal data stored on the computer without the user knowing they have been touched.
It is estimated that 10,000 web sites have been hacked. My worksite has shut down internet activity as a proactive response, so I can't search online and get additional information.
This is a real threat and can be validated.
Microsoft says it is working on a patch, no timeframe has been identified.
My suggestion is that you check your antiviral software to ensure the signatures are up-to-date & then scan your computer for malware, spyware and viruses. eSevices offers a great anti-viral scanner that is free.
Two Trojans have already been identified. They are Win32/VB.IQ.dr and Win32/VB.IQ.
Set your system to check for updates more frequently so that when the update is available, it will download ASAP.
It is also suggested that you switch to another browser such as Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome or Opera which are free downloads.

Here are the versions affected:
Since last Tuesday, Microsoft has updated its advisory four times. It expanded the list of potentially affected versions of Internet Explorer to include not only IE 7, but also IE 5.01 SP4, IE 6, IE 6 SP1, and IE 8 Beta 2. It also added several workaround options that involve disabling certain features.
Microsoft however says it is aware only of attacks affecting Internet Explorer 7 under the following systems: Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Vista, Windows Vista Service Pack 1, and Windows Server 2008.

That's alright, not everyone checks the Technical Support forums. ;)

Great I don't use it and fortunately no one else in my house does either since I migrated everyone over to FF.
