Title: Thanks from the SAPP 38 drivers...
Post by: Guppy35 on December 17, 2008, 10:42:24 PM
Haven't had a SAPP night in a while do to real life etc.  We got a decent amount of 38 drivers up tonite and had some good and some lousy fights.  The theme was PTO so we were looking for good screenshots of burning Japanese stuff.

Sadly there weren't as many Japanese birds up as we'd have liked but we got a few good shots.

Burning Zeke

Typical CorkyJr spot, upside down, 1K up or down as the case may be, shooting at a Ki-84.  Pulled out at 50 feet, but got him.

And thanks to many of you, my 38G was shot to pieces early and often.  One of the few times I got down.  Ready for the scrap heap :)

Was a good time.  I was only able to catch the tail end of it but still got in at least 2 missions.  It's quite a sight seeing a dozen or more P38s flying together.  So much firepower and impending doom :).  It's a shame we owned everyone so much though, that we essentially were just a gang of 38s killing and picking everyone in sight.  A poor La7 comes to mind actually  :rofl

the best part to us "noobs" to the 38 and LW, was the bits of advice thrown out to/for us.

here i was trying to gain alt, to try n engage one of the cons above me, and shuff, or del, or one of those guys comes on vox, sayin "cap...get down here, they'll come to us". for some odd reason, i listened. sure enough, they came to us. and i got one before i lost many many parts.

CAP check this out:

Model Type Kills In Kills Of Killed By Died In
P-38J         16       1       1          16

Yes I've died the same number of times I've killed, but I'm starting to learn it as well and so is your buddy lazy, he was landing kills left and right in it last night.

Sad to say, I was probably one of your lousy fights Dan (apologies).

That said, flying thru those bombers landing made me laugh hysterically (had to hold fire for fear of kill shooting myself)

Was nice to see a couple of well flown 38's before I had to log tho

i didn't do as poorly as i felt like i was last night.

kills in     kills of   killed by    died in

P-38G 1           0                0         1
P-38J 6            1                0         4

Model Type                  Kills                       Percent
B-17G                           1                         16.667
Bf 109G-2                      1                         16.667

Spitfire Mk IX                  1                         16.667

rather co-incindently, the b17 gave me the hardest time. i unloaded in him something fierce, but the dam thing wouldn't go down. it was a solo plane, and he gave me a pw 25 miles from home.

the rest were in the mix of the fight, as were my deaths.  :rofl
i was surprised, at how different lw feels than mw does....but it might just be me though.

I have found the 38 ammo load to be quirky at times.  You really have no way of knowing if your cannon rounds are hitting your target.  Sometimes I'll clip a plane and he tears apart while other times I'll unload into one and nothing!  It's just a quirky plane for a goofy bunch. :lol

Indeed. I usually never fire cannon rounds unless I'm killing bombers or need an extra small punch for a plane that I can't down.

I was trying to use the 24s to get away :)  It was good fun.  As with any fight, I think as soon as people started dying, many of them went elsewhere.  It was a decent ebb and flow of fights though.  In the end, folks like to shoot at low 38s given the opportunity :)

We've scared off the competition or driven them into a frenzied horde every time.

I like the frenzied horde more :D

I made a pass on a set of 24s taking off. My intent was to pass under the back one, over the next one.... and under the front one...... I hit the rear one POOF!!

Few of my lower quality screen shots, still learning how to do it, got 3 N1Ks and 2 Ki84s in all

P-turdynine knocking out Rud3boi's Ki84

One of my 3 N1K kills, he caught on fire and blew up right after so i couldn't get flames

My one engined 38 facing the wrong direction on the CV, the engine oil is blowing in the wind

how do you make screenshots?
Title: Re: Thanks from the SAPP 38 drivers...
Post by: Qrsu on December 19, 2008, 10:42:35 PM
Cap, I believe there's a keymapping ingame to take a screenshot but it would be really hard to get action shots. The way I do it is load up film, find a point in the film where a screenshot would work - adjust your camera angles and whatnot, set it to full-screen and then hit the Prt Scr button on your keyboard (this saves whatever's on the screen) then you just paste it into a program that saves .jpgs or .bmps. (I just use paint).

There are probably some other ways of doing it - possibly simpler ways, but this is just how I do it. Hope it helps.  :salute

I just recently learned too, in a film that you want to take the pic from, pause it where you want it, set the camera angles the way you want them, then go to full screen view. From there press the print screen button. Open up paint or some other similar application and go to Edit-->paste, and the screenshot will be pasted onto the blank paint screen. Then just save it to your desktop, computer, etc, and go to your image hosting site and upload it from there

Thanks Banshee7 for teaching me all that   :)
