How much money have you dropped to play AHII???
To improve your equipment, expand capabilities,
enhance your gameplay?
Lets keep it limited to just money spent, that was
prompted by the GAME.. Otherwise ya wouldn't
have spent those greenbacks, (or whatever)...
Just curious, because I've dropped about 3G's in
the last 6 months, prompted by this game..
Hopefully, I'm not alone...

Let's just say that I could have taken a few trips to Hawaii or Tahiti :cry
-
I tend not to think about it. But I have spent close to £300 on a new CH setup, yes that's almost $600, someone at Amazon is making a small fortune of me.
-
Nothing, I have a 4 year old AMD3000/6800GT and a Saitek X36 I bought 7 years ago for European Air War or Fighter Ace or IL2, I cant remember.
Oh, I lie, I bought another gig of ram for £30. Didnt make any difference.
-
uhm.. lesseee... though not specifically for AH, I DID upgrade my PC for gaming, (I do this abt once every 2 yrs) Roughly 2k each time...
Saitek X52 Pro 150ish
Saitek Pedals 150ish
Vuzix VR-920 400
USB Wife-Ack(noise) Cancelling headset - 79.99
Total? Too freakin much. (Dont let me wife see this post LOL!)

Can I include $ I spent on another online flight sim when it was $2/hour? I'm sure some of the AW people spent more than that years ago. :D
-

Saitek ST290 Pro: $25
upgrade to X52: $115
6 headsets at $15 ea: $90
1 headset: $45
then almost 2 years of playing time: $329
Grand total: $574
-
In total over the 4 or so years includeing new CPU, vid card joystick and so on ive spent about $800.00 not counting the monthly fee, i should have got addicted to crack instead, i probly would have saved money :uhoh
-
I upgraded my pc back in like 03 I think. Was maybe 800 bucks, but was not just for this game. Beyond that not much.
-
Since 99... Probably a few thousand..
Saitek Cyborg gold 50$
Saitek Cyborg Gold 50$
Saitek Cyborg Evo prolly another 50$

A nice monitor .. 400$

New Laptop: 1300
Saitek X52 (x2): 190
Saitek Pedals: 140ish
Internet connection: 95 a month for 7 months (665)
This is the retarded part about the whole thing:
I have all of this at home (minus the pedals) but could not wait the 9 months to play so I bought it all again. :uhoh
-
Do I have to count errors of judgement. It's up there. However nothing in the last 6 mos. amen. Though I have been tempted by sli, triple head to go, TrackIR etc.
Here's list of errors. Building an amd machine. Yeah it worked but crashed every 3 days. Purchased an Nvidia 8600. That's a peice of work. Went through 3 joysticks in 6 mos. All saitek.
Actually built 4 machines in the last year and a half. Gave 1 to my son and 1 to my mom. The 2 machines I have left will both run AH with absolutely no problem. Oh no shade account here btw.
-
not counting the montly fee. about 1,400 give or take.. system upgrade, 24" monitor, TIR, good headphones with a good mic, HOTAS Cougar, rudder pedals,
if I add in the beer the number jumps significantly.
-
I forgot about headsets, I've been through maybe 8 now including 3 top of the line Shenniser ones. :cry
Also an X-52 which I plugged in once and never used again. :huh

1x IBM NetVista PC (used, hand-me-down) Estimated worth: $100
-2GHz Pentium IV (discontinued, depreciated): $0
-NVidia GeForce FX5500 (discontinued, depreciated): $0
-75GB 7200RPM Hard drive, less than 5GB remaining (depreciated, probably will die soon): $0
-1x speaker system w/ unidentified white box (no clue what it is, likely an ancient artifact): $0
1x Microsoft Sidewinder Pro (Depreciated, Discontinued, and more than a Decade old): $0
1x Saitek ST290 Pro: $20
1x 19 inch plasma (hand-me-down): $80 (I think)
1x Unidentified Logiteck Trackball: $0
1x Microsoft Keyboard: $0
94672x Generic USB hubs: $no freaking clue
1x Logiteck Headset: $35
3~4x months of AH2: $45~$60
GRAND TOTAL: About $350, with only about $100 of it mine. (Mostly AH subscription and ST290, plus headset.)
-
for me
2 x52 $230
new gaming computer $4000
monthly membership $390 for over 2 years
2 longitek joysticks $70
updated 2 more GB of ram $160
total $4850
-
For $400, you could build an awesome system that would play AH with minimal frame rate loss in any situation.
Heres a system similar to what I play on. The worst it ever gets down to in TT while im flying over the big city is in the mid 40s. Most of the other times it is pegged at 60 since i have vertical sync enabled. I play with 1024 textures, at 1680x1050. It doesn't have to cost a fortune these days to play AH in style!
(This is assuming you already have a monitor, headset, keyboard, mouse, and windows key)
Gaming controls are another matter. :D

In 1995 I was living in a town with no ISP, so I had to dial in-state long distance to get internet access. For three months, I dropped just over $1000/month to play.
-
i try to think of it as all the money i saved, by playing AH, after all i use to have a life outside this game, bars , women, poker games, trips to the mountians or vegas!
now i can sit at home and watch all that money i used to thro away, just collect at the bank,
my girlfreind is very proud! :aok
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Until 2 minutes ago I would have said.
On hardware about $3000, laptop, X52 system, couple of previous joysticks, headsets etc.
Now I have to add $10,000 for therapy to get the image of Dadsguns out of my mind. :( :(

Don't remind me about that. $1.99 an hour Air Warrior as an undergrad... all the crack you can handle. Ended up cutting up that credit card, and payed it off at a much later date. I'll never do anything like that again...I think real crack would have probably been less expensive.
